I'm applying to the B.S.N. program at my university and was informed that after being accepted, I'll need 3,462 vaccines Is there anything I can do about this? I don't want to cause a stir or be kicked out but I also don't want to inject myself with a bunch of poison and put my son at risk as well. Please help!

I'm a nursing professor at a university. Most of this falls under administrative issues (faculty don't really get involved), but I will pass a long what I know.

You could most likely file an exemption that the university will accept. If you received childhood vaccines and don't have a record, positive titers will be accepted as proof of immunity. But, and this is a huge but, the hospitals you will do your clinical rotations at do not have to accept or honor your exemption (especially if they are not affiliated with the university). This means that although the university may admit you, you may not be allowed to enter the clinical sites, and therefore not be able to complete the degree.

I would contact the nursing department at the university and find out exactly what the policy is on nursing students/vaccincations/clinical placements. Although you do not want to "cause a stir", I am quite sure you are not the first student to be in this situation.

Good luck. Feel free to PM me if you have specific questions.
