Had my reduction 9 yrs ago, DD was born 3/18/03.

I was able to ebf *almost* while I was home w/ her the first few months. (Had lots of nipple damage in the first few days, so we ended up supplementing, but were able to pull it back to no more than 2-4 oz/day of formula by the end of a few months, and often none at all.)

I've been back to work since mid-June, and dd is home w/ dh. I'm pumping (PIS) 3-4 times/day, and I get anywhere from 6-11 oz/day that way, but it's not enough to keep up w/ her. She still needs (or seems to need) anywhere from 2-8 oz of formula after they go through my stash, and I haven't been able to store up enough on the wkds to get ahead! (During vacations & on wkds she doesn't get any bottles, unless I'm out & she's hungry, which we try to avoid.) I'm finding that the formula thing is bothering me more & more. I HATE that we have to supplement. (I'm taking fenugreek & drinking mm tea, in hopes that will help.)

I'm trying to tell myself that lots of women who've attempted bfar have had much worse luck than I have, but it still bugs me.

So: anyone else in the same or similar boat, who can give me advice/encouragement?

Thanks, moms!

Thanks for the input! Last wkd I figured I'd get up in the night & pump, since she'd been sleeping 9-10 hours at a stretch, but then she decided it wasn't for her & started waking up in the night to eat. So much for getting ahead. I'm hoping this means she's trying to get me ready for the 6-month growth spurt!

Re: Domperidone--I've been thinking about it, and am really starting to lean towards it. I'm confused, though--do you need an Rx or not to order online?

OT: the Pioneer Valley (or Asparagus Valley) is just about my favorite place, after the Oregon coast. DH & I both went to school in your backyard...

re: Isis--I used to love that show on the Saturday morning cartoons! Needed storage bags anyway (and had been trying to figure out how to have a 2nd pump at home so I didn't have to cart the PIS all over the place), so ran right out to Target last night & got myself a new Avent.

Pumped after dd went to bed, and got 2 oz., which I consider pretty good at the end of the day w/ a manual pump, when I'm overtired anyway. So thank you for the recommendation. It's just what I need for the small amt of at-home pumping I do. Couldn't buy it w/o getting a whole kit w/ the disposable system so it was more like $45, but Target's having a 15% off all Avent nursing stuff sale.

Discussed the DPD w/ DH, and he's very strongly against the internet pharmacy idea (too many spams for viagra). He's afraid that the NZ pharmacies are unregulated & that there's no way to make sure we're getting what we pay for. So we'll see how the extra pumping w/ the Isis works, and if that doesn't do it I'll put some research into the how reliable NZ pharmacies are.

Thanks again!
