Hello to everyone. I am a newbie to this board and have been reading over posts for a bit as I make the decision to TTC as a single female.
I am 35 and haven't found "the one"...and don't want to wait any longer to TTC. I hope to start TTC next month and know I will need all sorts of support and advice. Would love to hear from other single momma's and single TTC's.
I don't mean to sound harsh at your first post, and scare you away but, how will you concive? At a donor bank? or just some guy? Just worried for you about STD.
How does sperm donation work? Is it like adoption where there's an application process? If so, I hope that goes quickly for you and that fertilization takes place right away.
Have you started charting your cycles so you'll have a better idea of when you ovulate? I strongly recommend the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility.
There's a single-parents forum here at MDC, there might be some mamas there who are single mamas by choice and have already gone through the sperm donor process. There are also lesbian mamas who have chosen to use sperm donations, although they aren't single.
I don't know of anyone right now who's in your exact situation (watch someone post right after I post
SweetTexasgal Welcome!
While it is not my situation, I know where you are coming from. I decided a few years ago that I would TTC at a particular age whether or not in a relationship, and it just happens that I am that age now. And we are using a bank too!
Hi Sapphire - Yes, there is an "application process", but luckily it does not seem to be too difficult. I have charted my last cycle....and hope to jump into TTC next month. I plan on getting Taking Charge of Your Fertility this weekend....it is so highly recommended....I can't wait to read it.
Hi MichelleW - How has the donor bank process been for you? Easy? I too...told myself that regardless of my situation that at the age I am at now I would TTC. I am excited about starting the process. Just hope it doesn't take too long.
