Does anyone know a recipe for the wax you use to start dreadlocks? I'm sure I have the ingredients here at home. TIA!!

I would think shea butter would be nice, perhaps cocoa butter too.

I know this isn't what you've asked for, but these guys have a great rep amongst the folks I know who dread their hair... They're supposed to be all natural, etc. You might want to give them a look-see. Good luck.

: BTW IMHO I wouldn't use any thing greasy, It will make your dreads slip out, trust me on this, I had 3 foot long dreads till a wave of hormones took over and i cut them off with DC#2. Thinkin about doin it agian. ya know what I don't know what kind of hair ya have, but I'm caucausion(sp?) and I have wavy/curly hair, I only know bout that, If your not then mabye it's diffrent for you. Not trying to offend anyone, just trying to be CLEAR
