I think I want to purchase an Ergo for my DD's first birthday. I'd love to be able to test one out before purchasing one. Are there any stores in Seattle that have one to try out?

Don't we have a nino group? If you live on the south side you can just try mine

That's what I was gonna say.

FWIW, I had an Ergo and it totally didn't work for me. Ended up getting a Patapum instead and am MUCH happier. They're also a lot less $. Just thought I'd put it out there.

The Seattle ex-NINO group has a mailing list at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/seattl...earingnetwork/

The meetings are usually the first Thursday morning of the month. I think it's the first Thursday, anyhow. Since I work I've never been to a single one.

The Seattle Holistic Center carries them as well. There is a location in Wallingford at the Good Shepherd Center and also on Aurora just north of Greenlake.

The ergo company has terrible business practices. They have been threatening and harrassing the other soft structured baby carrier makers for years now, accusing them of patent infringement even if their carrier was made before the Ergo or it was designed after a traditional carrier. They have caused a lot of grief to a lot of retailers and makers. Also, they are made in China.

I like my Ergo but I LOVE my beco and my Ellaroo mei tai.

I would recommend going to a babywearing meeting and trying on a lot of different brands before you decide. There are many other baby carrier makers out there who are far more ethical than Ergo.

If you visit www.babywearer.com you can get tons more info on everything I wrote above.
