I'm in the Bridgewater area and although I'm not pregnant I'm already starting to get bummed about trying to VBAC. I loved my midwives last pregnancy but the hospital they deliver at won't VBAC at all. I would really like to talk with someone local.

Hi Taryn ~ I'm in the Bridgewater area too and hoping to vbac in November. I had midwives the first time but I got the most "medical" of the 3 so I don't plan to use them again. I'm actually traveling an hour south down to Mercer Medical center in hopes of a vbac with different midwives. I've heard good things about the pro-vbac attitude of the midwives who deliver at Hunterdon medical center too. Feel free to PM me. We can chat if you want, especially since we are so close! Are you interested in ICAN? We have a Somerset group that meets bimonthly.

My ob was extremely VBAC friendly, as was his partner, and the midwives that worked in the office. However, the office is in Little Silver, NJ. I don't know if you would want to travel that far.

Michelle - what hospital do they deliver at?

I'm willing to travel up to an hour if I find someone I like. I was traveling 50 min. to my midwives last pregnancy. I just want to have a VBAC next time with all my heart so I'll do what I have to to make it happen.

Hi Taryn,

They deliver at both Riverview Medical in Red Bank, and Monmouth Medical in Long Branch. (I have delivered at both, and have to say MM is wonderful!!! - plus they have a great neo-natal unit, JIC)
Dr. Anthony Giovine http://www.dr-giovine.medem.com/
I switched over to them during my seventh month of my third pregnancy. They were wonderful. Dr. Giovine is so supportive and gentle, Dr. Belkin is wonderful and the midwives are excellent. They are all terrific. I really can't say enough good about them!!

Monmouth Medical Center is one of the few hospitals in the area that actually have vbac classes! I don't know how good/informative they are but I think it's a good sign. There are lots of midwives that deliver there which is also a good sign. They have one of the lowest c-s rates in the state and one of the highest vbac rates (keep in mind that's relative to all NJ's rates which are pretty outrageous to begin with!!).
