I don't know whether to , , or .

I love my dh, and it's his first day back at school today too (so he must have been preoccupied), but the night before the FIRST day of school he 1) leaves the nighttime temp of the house way too high and 2) forgets to give melatonin.

Ds1 doesn't fall asleep until 45 minutes after his bedtime (no melatonin)
Ds3 wakes up several times during the night and stays awake after 5am (temp)
Ds2 wakes up because of Ds3, and has been awake since 5am.

So it's the first day of kindergarten (special ed.) for Ds1 and Ds2, and they're both exhausted, cranky, and at their worst for the teachers. Ds3 (18 mo.) is a wreck, I'm a wreck, and this whole day feels criz-appy!

And did I mention Ds2 got into his diaper this morning and made a HUGE stinky mess in the bedroom?

Anybody else having a doozy of a day? Or maybe a good one to make us all feel better?

It was our first day today. Thankfully a good one thus far. I'm so excited for DS, he has a great teacher this year and his support teachers are all ready with a game plan for him as well. He attends mainstream first grade and then goes to the support room (resource, special ed type) as needed for doing his work and getting movement time in. He has the same support network every year until 3rd grade so this year will be a much better transition than last.

My oldest NT child, on the other hand, "conveniently" forgot her glasses at home. So I get to run those in later. *roll eyes* She does everything in her power to avoid wearing them.

I hope your day gets better!

Maura did great today - though the rest of her class (all two kids) were cranky.

But if it makes you feel better, we spent yesterday at the ER with our 11 yr old, who took a dive off his bike and ended up with 6 stitches.

It was our first day of school, too! It went much better than I expected, but there were still some tears (both his and mine). His bus ride is only 15 minutes each way, hooray!

He did, however, scream blue murder when I woke him at 7 a.m.

: I can't believe that my baby is going to school!

My oldest NT dd has her first day thursday (they should start tomorrow but the reading program teachers needed an extra conference day to prepare - good for them!) My youngest dd (no Dx yet - but recieves PT and has a special ed teacher in her class room 2 hours a week for now) doesnt start until the 24th!! (yeah - i'm a bit upset that she has a 3 month break - she really needs/thrives/etc on her routine).

Hope that bad day doesnt stay bad for those who started out that way!

Okay, now I'm definitely in the stage of a crazy day.

Ds1 is in the morning program. Dropped him off, picked him up.
Lunchtime with all three kids at home. 20 minutes later:
Ds2 is in the afternoon program. Dropped him off, picked him up.

In between all the crazy transitions, the random tasks I've done today, and getting back into the swing of things, I arrived at school to pick up Ds2 WITHOUT ANY SHOES ON. The kids in line for the school bus stared at me like I was an alien.

Oy.

I hope that everyone's 1st day of school went well. My son is finishing up his 4th week and my daughter is just starting her 4th week.

Today was the first day for all three of mine. The getting to school part went fine, although dd2 (SN) did tell me, "Mama, I don't DO mornings!"

The end of the school day was a bit less fun, though nothing major. Dd1 had a meltdown because she forgot part of her assignment, ds got hurt on the playground and came home with a bandaged arm, and we've got a few minor issues to handle with dd2's school. Overall, though, it was pretty good!

The day went fine, but when I went to pick ds up from the bus. . . he wasn't on it!! Apparently, he got on the wrong bus, so they took him back to school and then another bus brought him back to his stop. Sigh. The day went downhill from there.

Tomorrow should be better.

(although ds was fine with the mixup and school, it was just me that was stressed out )

It was our first day too!
It was great and I was so happy that I had fought to keep him there!

He recognized school right away and ran into the classroom and got busy playing.
He didn't need/want me at all!
It was such a relief. After 6 months of crying every time we pulled up to the school last year I was afraid that the summer break might bring some of that back.
But not at all. It is almost like he picked up where he left off in June.

He was ready to come home when I picked him up. In fact I showed up a bit early and they were playing outside. He noticed me and wanted to leave right then.

His teacher said that he remembered the routine and made choices and basically did great.
I was so happy to hear it!
Now I am hoping that I won't have to fight again next year. I love this preschool and since he is nowhere near learning to use the potty we will get one more year there!

Yeah for great first days!
