With my first pg, I had absolutely no nausea or vomiting at all. None.

This time, I am moderately nauseated all the time. From the time I wake up until I go to bed. But, I never have vomited. I'm not much of a puker, though. Even when I've been deathly ill with the flu I almost always have to gag myself so I can vomit to make myself feel better.

Is anybody else this way? Is it still m/s even though I'm not vomiting? I also have lost 4 lbs because eating makes the nausea worse. I'll be starving to death so I'll eat and then the nausea gets worse.

Grrr and blah.

I am just getting over this now (I'm 14 weeks). I only vomited once but I felt nauseous nearly all the time. I felt much iller in the evenings than I did in the morning. I lost 8lbs over the first trimester (although I am not too worried about it as I am well padded
). I still thought of it as morning sickness and the books I have count morning sickness as nausea with or without vomiting.

I found it fairly miserbale plus you don't get much sympathy from people who haven't been pregnancy as they assume it is only bad if there is vomiting (to be fair I thought that too pre-pregnancy).

My main problem was that NOTHING appealed to me food-wise. My DH was always on at me to eat as eating would help with the nausea but the thought of food made me gag. The best things for me were bland carbohydrates like potatoes and bread and dry crackers. I found pasta very difficult as I found it slimy.

All I can say is you will get through it, it gets better eventually.

I really sympathise and try to keep eating (even though you don't want to) little snacks if you can.

I was always nauseated but never threw up unless I took my prenatal without eating first. Later in my pg I found better vitamins that didn't even give me heartburn. Anyway, I ate a TON of bland food ALL the time to combat morning sickness. It worked, and I helped support a Subway franchise for at elast 3 mos! :LOL I hope you feel better soon!

and congrats, big time. When I finally get it together, look for a package in the mail.

W/ DS I was nauseated all the time and never threw up (well once after the MS has gone away I got car sick, but that was pretty unrelated to pregnancy) It was pretty bad with him and lasted until 16 weeks. I could barely get out of bed most days.

So far this time I've been queasy for about a week (just got a
last tuesday) and it's slowly getting more severe. Luckily, it's not too bad first thing in the morning so I can actually get up and get going, but, on the other hand, it's worse after I eat, so snacking is not helping like it used to. I just ordered some Preggie Pops from www.emibeans.com and I'm hoping those help. This is my absolutely least favorite part of pregnancy and I can't wait for it to end!!

Let me tell you about my first pregnancy. I had solid nausea for three months. I couldn't eat anything but fruit. I lost 25 lbs.

I never threw up.

The nausea was severe and throwing up would have been a relief. Like you, I've just never been a puker. Was it morning sickness? YES!

Yep! I'm going through that right now! Nausea all the time, but haven't thrown up once. It is still m/s, it is still very difficult! My midwife keeps telling me to eat more protein, that protein will help, but for a long time I couldn't bear to eat anything but crackers and toast. Once I hit 12 wks, protein did start helping, once I could stand it! Now I'm 14 and find that if I'm careful to drink enough and eat enough protein with carbohydrates, then I do okay most of the day. Take care of yourself! In time it will pass!

I was nauseated much of the first trimester and never puked, either. I lost 5 lbs. Don't worry about weight loss, at this point the baby is so small it doesn't need much, just eat whatever's appetizing. I found ginger snaps (the kind made w/ molasses) helped a lot.

with my first i was gagging nauseous the whole time but only actually threw up once. i never bothered to tell dh that because it seemed so strange to me "oh yeah, i just ran to the bathroom to gag a bit."

so far (very early) it seems to be the same thing.

that's the way it's been with me for both my pgs. i'm not much of a puker, either, though. i think i could count on one hand the times i've thrown up in the last 10 years. the hardest part for me was not knowing what would taste good until i put something in my mouth. frequently i would make or order something i usually liked only to find it was _not_ what i wanted after all. bleeeaaah! it gets better for me in the second trimester. i think it still counts as morning sickness. some people just have a quicker puke reflex than others and some mamas get sicker than others, too. i don't complain too much 'cause i know folks who have it a lot worse, but it's still no fun.

Thanks ladies, it's nice to know I'm not alone.

Most people I've known who have had m/s also have had the vomiting to go along with it and when I say I have m/s but no vomiting, they look at me like it can't be *that* bad.

Daggon, I just feel so crappy. I wish I could either have the fatigue or the m/s, but the combo of both leaves me really miserable. Ds probably is wondering what has happened to his normally energetic mama. Poor guy

I feel nauseated but no vomiting. With dd, I had absolutely no morning sickness at all. I found out that if I take a couple of bites even when I'm "sick", I actually feel a lot better afterwards. Its taking the first few bites thats hard. I'm now 13 weeks and the nausea has pretty much gone away and my appetite is coming back. I lost a few lbs, but then I'm back to pre-preg weight now. Good luck!

I was the same way with my first pregnancy. Almost to the point where i wish i'd just throw up! lol. This time, I would dry heave (sp?) in the morning, but then be just nauseous for the rest of the day. I still call both morning sickness.

I had m/s with no vomiting with both my previous pregnancies. I couldn't eat, drink or even get out of bed. It was like having horrid stomach flu and being 30 seconds away from barfing, but never actually throwing up. I was put on anti nausea meds with both of those pregnancies to keep me out of the hospital for dehydration.

With this pregnancy I have felt queasy a few times but in my throat rather than my stomach. I have also thrown up several times with this one, but mainly when brushing my teeth -- my gag reflex is on overdrive.

And, yes, I consider it morning sickness.

I have a very strong gag reflex, also. I gag every time I brush my teeth. And not just when I'm pregnant. Never throw up, though.

I had that toothbrush gagging thing, too. It doesn't help that I can't stand mint and have always barely been able to tolerate the taste of toothpaste. The worst thing, though, was the smells of some things. Coffee really turned my stomach, as it smelled like rancid tuna to me! DH was REALLY glad when that phase was over, he's one of those people who drinks a pot of coffee, not a cup!

Another thing that was awful was the vomiting smiley on these boards. My stomach lurched every time I saw it! It seems like an awfully long time ago, though, my morning sickness faded at about 13 weeks--at this point I'd almost prefer a bit of nausea to the indigestion I've been getting...

It was a pretty miserable couple of months when all I wanted to do was throw up. And, like some others said, really frustrating when everyone thinks it's all in your head because you haven't actually thrown up. I found there were only certain foods that I could eat. Potatoes were the main thing. Didn't matter if they were french fries, poutine, mashed, scalloped... just potatoes. Fruits and vegetables I could not touch! Cherries got me the closest to the toilet of anything - and I normally love cherries. The other thing that almost got me there was the first (and last) time I took my prenatal vitamin on an empty stomach. I had heard not to do it, but thought "how bad could it be?"... It was definately not good.

I did find that it helped to have some crackers by the bed, and I would chew a couple of those first thing in the morning awhile before I would actually get out of bed. That helped me to at least get some breakfast down - and then I would feel a little better... for a couple of hours at least....

I do think it has a lot to do with whether you're someone who throws up a lot normally. My sister threw up all the time when she was pregnant - and she had always thrown up a lot when she was sick. I, on the other hand, could probably count on one hand the times I've been sick that I can remember.

It's not easy, but hang in there, hopefully it will be over soon, and you'll be feeling great!
