I'm 44 with an 18mo. Now that we finally have one (had never tried) I would LOVE to have another one. I'd love to hear that it really happens. I've only had AF a couple of months, and only this last month started charting. But because of the risk of birth defects I'm feeling that this has to happen pretty quick - or we better not try anymore. So frustrating!

First let me say-Good luck! I'm 39 (will be 40 in November) and we are TTC and I am also breastfeeding my 25 month old son mostly at naps & bedtime. I hope your stay on the TTC boards are short and you see that double line real soon.

Yep, I'm going to be 41 in May. Baby girl is 20 months and still nursing. I was fired from my RE in January and am going for a 2nd opinion on Tuesday elsewhere.

Not quite ready to "give up" yet, even tho I'm "old!"

Hi Nicks Mom,

I'm 39 and nursing #1, who is 2 1/2 (32 months). I'm not wanting to stop until she is ready. And I do worry that it may be extending my TTC time. I have Luteal Phase defect this time around and not sure if the nursing has anything to do with it. I got AF back when DD was a year old and stupid me didn't start TTC again until she was 2 years old (I just didn't feel ready quite yet). conceived DD#1 within 6 months at age 35/36 and this time around I've had a m/c and then 8 months without success, so am quite antsy.

I also feel like you that I may not get preg anyway even if I do wean and it would suck to wean and then not get preg and miss out on the BFing with DD. I do value that part of our relationship so much and so does she.

We are doing Femara (like clomid) and IUI this cycle. The Femara is also to treat the LPD. Also using progesterone.

So you are not alone. I post on the 40+ and TTC board even tho I'm not quite 40--a nice and wise group of women. Low key and not particularly militant about anything, which I like . Our numbers are growing lately on that board, so it is kind of fun right now. Hopefully the veteran members aren't too overwhelmed by all the newbies .

On the TTC front, I am personally encouraged that you have an 18-month old. I so understand what you mean about wanting another once you have one. I had no idea I would love being a mom so much. It is hard, but so worth it and I can't even believe what a gem of a kid I got.

Cheers,
