We have a girl name. It was one of those thunderbolt moments that one of the pp mentioned.

Rowan Idella

Rowan because I've always loved the name, but could never find a middle name that I loved with it. Idella is my maternal grandmother; she's always been a huge part of my life - picking me up from school when I was sick, teaching me how to ride horses, and now she lives across the street from me. We talk everyday, and when I need a bit of a break, she'll take the boys for a walk or a visit, and then I can have some down time. We're not telling anyone else our name - we'll actually keep something a surprise for once.

Now to find a boy's name. With both boys, the boy name came like a thunderbolt, even before knowing what the baby was going to be, so maybe this one's a girl.

We picked names we loved, no cares about position on the naming lists since if we know a ton of people named it, we probably won't like it anyways..lol. My daughter is Lea(my grandmothers name) Amber(the name I picked when I was 4 for my sister but didn't tell them until after she was named, so it's been "my" name forever..lol). My son is Ethan(just love it and we had no clue it was so high on the favs list, but we only know 2 other Ethans-one is a friend from HS who is a midwife now in FL and another is a crunchy mama I met after Ethan was born, so we didn't care then and don't care now..lol) Chad(My hubby's name) Eric(Hubby's brother's name who was there to witness his birth).

This baby should she be girl is Emily(just love it) Claire(hubby's mother's name) Esther(Mom's middle name). And hopefully it's a girl since I already have the holiday hat embroidered for her ;)

Should it be he: Logan(just love it) Arthur(Hubby's father's name).

So the roundup is Lea Amber, Ethan Chad Eric, Emily Claire Esther and Logan Arthur..lol (Thought I would condense it since I can be wordy..hehe)

The traditional spelling of Mikayla is Michaela. There are a bunch of different spellings listed here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michaela

ETA: I think Makayla is the most popular spelling for 2010.

Hoi mollsworth - ben je zelf ook nederlands? Of van België?

I don't have too many names yet because really nothing overlaps between Dutch and Hindi :)

Oh, thanks for spelling Makayla/ Michaela! With the 2nd, I see Michael-ah. LOL. Oh well. Doesn't look girlish.

Hmm, obsessing a little here. DH's mid name is Lee. (and his bros too) He thinks its natural to use it everywhere.

There's

Micah Lee (nope) Sweeter is Micahlee....no, Mikaylee? Not so taken with the Mi part, Kaylee is cute though for sure.

Mikayla or Kayla or Ayla

Michaela, no...but Mila is better. How to make it sound My-lah? Where is my thinker when I need her. (my brain)

Mayli/ Maeli/ is cute also. Maela?

I like short sweet names, so guess that's why I'm condensing the Michaela Lee. Also, it would be nice to satisfy the Lee thing so I can find a new middle name.

If you notice another blend that I missed...then by all means, for goodness sakes, please please share. I'd love to hear! thanks.

I like Audrey Grace for a girl and Benjamin Anderson for a boy. Hub isn't fond of the middle names. I initially wanted to name a boy Jackson Alexander, but hub didn't like it at all! So I just threw out the name Benjamin one day and neither of us hated it so Benji it will be. I haven't decided on a nickname for Audrey yet.

My name is Kaylie! I'm partial to it. There's a tons of ways to spell it so you can get creative. The original form is Ceildh which is Scots Gaelic, which is also a traditional "barn dance" in England/Scotland/Ireland. Then there's Caileigh, Kayleigh, etc.

DH likes Kaylee the best. He says that the others are "way different". But, I really like Mila and Maylee/ Maeli too.

It's nice to hear Kaylie works for a woman! It's such a cute name, er, pretty!

I think Kaylee will be the easiest for people to pronounce. I can't tell you how many times people mispronounce my name. Drives me crazy especially since its not that hard!

Zakdat: I like Rowan Idella too nice choice!

It's funny we have a few boy names but not really any strong contenders for a girl.

The way our naming conversations go, I am the one who suggests names and then my H says "that's nice. I like that." or far far far more often something funny that shows he hates the name.

So I told him it better be a boy because he hasn't approved one of my girl suggestions. One of our problems is that it needs to sound good in Spanish and in English

For a boy our top choice right now is:

Ammiel.

It's pronounceable in both languages. I like:

Judah

a lot but H is less than thrilled with it.

Asher

is very cute but sh is a tough sound for some spanish speakers so some people would end up calling him Acher... We both liked:

Cassius

but our families and friends hated it ( I don't think there was one person who didn't hate it)

For girls I love

Federica

H finds it abhorrent. I also considered:

Clara, Nora, Phaedra, Persephone, Magdalena and Xanthe.

H hates each and every one.

the only name he is even toying with is:

Zinnia.

We both adore the name:

Azalea

but good friends gave it to their daughter.... that was the first time we had heard it, so using it would really be theft even though we have both since moved to different continents.

I have a new batch of girl names to try on him:

aviva, aziza, and vashti.

we'll see. He tends to like shorter names and often androgynous names whereas I like very feminine names.

Any ideas welcome...

I've heard the name Acacia before....that might be a replacement for your Azalea.

Also to pp- about Michaela- My cousin is McKay you could call her McKay Leigh or some variation of that if you wanted "lee" in her name too.

So we've given both our girls 3 names. And one of the middle names we used, I want for the third (if it's a girl and come on we out number boys in my family by 90%, all the girls had girls!)

My Great grandmother was Muriel. And we chose to go with Murielle as one of the middle names. I liked it better with the extra letters. However this time I may not go with three names since I'm sick of trying to fit them on SS cards. I only did it then because I didn't want them to get stuck with the kind of name options I did.

Still Silas for a boy, but now I'm thinking I don't want Grey as his middle name. Makes me think sad. But then Silas sounds saddish. I don't know, I won't have a name for sure until baby is in my arms.
