My parents did. It seemed like a relatively easy way for an owner builder to build. My dad got a stock plan and ordered all the logs at once. It took about a 1 1/2 to 2 years to do the foundation, log walls and roof (we moved in before the roof was on) and probably ten year to get the inside completely finished, but my parents worked outside jobs and did it "pay as you go". We are going to do strawbale (we are going to be in an area where strawbale does really well), but we had considered log homes. There is a workshop in Washington that is supposed to be good www.loghomebuilders.org/ Good luck!
