We just got a new dog from the humane society and she is a real doll. She's about a year old and a Doxie/Lab mix, about 35 lbs. Her coat is so shiney and pretty. But, she is scratching and biting like crazy. There are NO fleas! And I mean NO fleas. She was on flea prevention when we got her and still is of course. She has no sores, but at the rate she's going, I fear she will have. I had this problem with a dog I had a few years ago and I gave him "Improve" and it worked great, but the company appears to have gone out of business

So, anyone else have a dog with the same problem? Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Sandy

Well dogs scratch for a variety of reasons, it could be fleas, allergies, mange, ect. I'd take her to the vet and get it checked out. Our dog had been scratching and it was determined he has allergies, he is doing better now on a medicated shampoo and antihistimines.

If there are no fleas then it sounds like your pup has allergies. Possibly even an allergy to the flea preventative. I would have her looked at.

My dog is allergic to beef. His skin gets really red under his fur and he constantly digs, rubs, bites, etc.

He's also sensitive to Advantage flea treatment. He gets a big red spot on his neck where it's applied. Revolution doesn't bother him.
