I had this happen with my first pregnancy too, instead of gaining weight I lost it. I lost about 15 pounds in the first four months, and only gained back 4 of them. It sounds ideal, but it's really not. My OB was worried about the baby not growing, so I got an ultrasound every four weeks, which was the only upside. Having to force-feed myself while never being hungry was really not a lot of fun.
And it seems like it's happening again. I lost 4 pounds since my BFP two weeks ago. DH just lost his job and we have no health care, so everything has to be paid out of pocket and we cannot afford the highly nutritious, high quality foods that we got with my first pregnancy. My only benefit is that I was about 30 pounds overweight going in, so I can afford to lose the weight, I am not at risk of becoming malnourished any time soon.
Anyone else in the same boat?

Yes! I'm 5' tall and normally hover somewhere around 110 pounds, but so far I've already lost five pounds.

It's not that food sounds disgusting, I'm just not interested. I'm mildly nauseous, but I've thrown up only a handful of times. I'm trying to keep well-hydrated, but other than that I'm at a loss as what to do.

I lost 4 pounds the first 7 weeks, but then just gained 2 of them back.

I barely have an appetite, so have just been forcing myself to eat. I never had this problem with my other pregnancies (2 boys and 1 m/c) so maybe this one is a girl?

Yes, but see my sig for an explanation.

Because of my WLS, I'm going to have u/s every two months, which is medically prudent but DARN IT. I really wanted to avoid u/s with this pregnancy. Sigh.

I am force-feeding every couple hours. Basically everything protein-filled that isn't nailed to the ground, as well as protein shakes.

I'm nauseous and vomiting and haven't been able to hold food down for a few days now. Before I was at least keeping some things down. I'm down about 7 pounds.

I'm so sorry all of you are going through this too! I do have to admit though, I am also relieved that I am not the only one. It really sucked big time to have all these other preggo mommies tell me "oh you're so lucky, you don't have to worry about gaining too much weight, I want to eat everything in sight!" when I was constantly terrified that my baby would stop growing or die because I couldn't put the necessary weight on. Even severely overweight women still have to put on some weight, and I wasn't getting it done... My OB was the most laid-back, non-panicky person I've ever met, and even she was worried at some point. That really scared me.
I'm not throwing up, not even all that nauseous (unless I eat lol), just totally not interested in any kind of food. I am forcing myself to eat anyway, but I can't seem to get enough calories in at the moment. It stinks.
Thanks for your replies, ladies, it has really made me feel a bit better!

you all suck. (I'm totally joking!!!) sorry- I've been nauseous non-stop and hate food and have still gained all the weight and I'm lashing out. I read several different places that losing weight can be totally normal in the first trimester.

One of my best friends lost a total of 15 pounds the first 2 trimesters, then gained 30 pounds in the last trimester! She's quite thin, so it was a bit scary to watch. But she had a 9 # 6 oz. baby, so it all worked out for her.

I am almost 8 weeks, and I am def. not losing weight. I don't think I'm really gaining much, either, though.

Same here - no significant nausea, but no interest in food to speak of...same as with DS. I'm not forcing myself to eat yet, but I am jumping on it (or trying, since the fatigue kicked in last week!) when something sounds even remotely appealing. I'm finding that having a LO helps a wee bit - I have to come up with food for him several times a day, and I can usually eat a few bites of whatever he's having.

I am switching to 1 or 2% milk instead of skim to keep the calories up, even if it's just a little!

I am also trying to up my fat intake. I figure if I eat more calories at each meal, then I have to eat less! And that is very, very appealing. :) So I bought some veggie dip mix at the co-op today, and I might whip that up later.

I am simultaneously losing weight (about 3 pounds so far) and getting fatter. It's really depressing.
