measuring large for dates.

I am 16 weeks 5 days and measuring about 22 weeks
I actually am not concerned, as I did the same with ds#2, but I was a little self concious when the midwife said 'are you sre this is normal for you? I can see why M (previous midwife with #2) was a little freaked out!" This midwife wasn't freaked out though...but she did look for a second heartbeat...just in case "rolleyes:

I am sure I am. Really, if it's not your first baby, odds are good your uterus is going to be a bit bigger anyway. I've been in to see a HCP once since getting pregnant, at 11.5 weeks. And at that point, my uterus was "way up there" by my bellybutton. It's still about the same height now, but getting firmer and rounder. :) I'm sure by 24 weeks it'll be just about right on, give or take a few centimeters.
I had my MW appointment at 12 weeks, and I was measuring at 14 weeks. She did an internal to get a good feeling as to how large I was, and she told me my uterus was quite large for how pregnant I was. I know exactly when I conceived, so I know my dates are right.

Right now, I am 16 weeks and I am HUGE! People ask me if I am due in the next month or so
: However, I just had a baby 20 months ago, and it is my third, and I am sure that has something to do with it. But, due to my age and family genetics, there is a slight chance there is more than one baby in there...but I sure hope there is only one.

I go in for an US on June 30, we will know then!

i'm measuring a little large already, about 2 weeks but i always measured large with dd and she was 9lbs at birth. there was one point that i measured 4 weeks large with her, but it was most likely just her position because it evened out eventually.
I always measure large until about 36 weeks.. then it all seems to even out. I haven't been measured yet with this one, but I can feel where my uterus is.. and Its a bit higher than 14 weeks ( about 1.2 inch below my bellybutton!)
My sis & mom & I measure a little large b/c, we've been told, our uteruses are tilted. Apparently this isn't that rare. Has anyone ever told you your uterus is tilted?

Nope. I don't remember measuring particularly large w/ds#1, so I really think it is simply that my uterus "knows" what to do :LOL She didn't officially measure me either. She simply did a top and bottom and said about "22 centimeters" (she may not need a tape though...she been doing this for awhile). I am measuring about 2 inches above my belly button the way she did it, but only it seems when I am laying down. When I am standing it seems quite low actually.

As I recall with ds#2 I to "caught up" late in my pregnancy. By the end, I was measuring within a week or two.

Nope, but my previous OB told me it was backward. It curves to the back instead of the front, but I assume that's common. She said it would probably right itself at about 20 weeks or so and stay that way for the rest of my life. Maybe that's why I'm not showing as much as some other women do around now.

People keep telling me that I look small for almost 17 weeks. A few people burst into tears when they see me after being gone for a few weeks. They assume I miscarried (G-d forbid!!!) or something. And all of these ladies have had 2 or 3 children already. I'm not sure whether to be happy that I appear so small or be sad that I'm not showing more. I can feel my little SweetBean moving and shaking in there every day, so I have a strong feeling that all is well. I just think it odd that so many folks are commenting that way. Well, I'm seeing my mw on Wednesday, so I'll know something for sure then.

I have a tilted uterus, but it seems to have the opposite effect on my uterine measurements. My uterus was measured to about 2 weeks behind schedule, at last check, but the ultrasound showed that the baby was actually measuring AHEAD of schedule.

My stomach is also growing alot, width-ways, the baby seems to be laying horizontally (across my belly, instead of lengthwise) so that may have something to do with it as well.
