DD will be 11 months next week and is refusing any kind of solid food. I've tried homemade baby food and all kinds of jars and she is not interested at all. I steam carrots, pears, apples etc. I make teething biscuits and even tried a little ice cream on a spoon. She only wants breast milk.
I don't know anyone else who has a child this old refusing solids. Please tell me what you tried or if you think I shouldn't worry. She nurses a lot and I'm up many times a night to feed her.
She's very healthy and weighs 25 lbs.
Thanks for your suggestions.

Don't sweat it. Breastmilk provides all necessary nutrition for at least the first two years of life. My baby refused all solids until very recently (like, two weeks ago). He just turned one at the beginning of the month. And now it's a struggle to keep him away from food---he eats everything.
Some children just start solids later. It's their way of protecting their delicate digestive systems from allergies. I think babies know what's best for themselves

Dont worry- as weird as it sounds to you it is very normal. I wish my DD only wanted me! LOL!!! Have you tried yams? My DD loves them and they are sweet- I bake a yam and cut out the center. But dont worry- I had planned on a "no solids" for the first year but it didnt work that way. Also if she is gaining weight and is getting what she needs then no need to push it, she may just like the closeness and that is very very healthy!

My 11-month old is just starting to become interested in solids during the past week. He was very sensitive to what I ate as a young breastfed infant (no dairy, soy, egg, citrus, oats, corn, garlic, pepper...) and would break out in a rash if I ate the "wrong" things. So, maybe he is trying to protect himself from allergies as mrzmeg mentioned.

I used to worry about his lack of interest in solid food too, especially when my mother was visiting
: It seems like the more pressure I put on him to eat, the less keen he is about eating. For the past 2 weeks, I just sit him in the highchair with finger food in front of during mealtimes and let him do his thing. That way I feel he is being included in the social experience of family meals, even if he isn't benefitting nutritionally. He still refuses to eat anything presented to him on a spoon, but he will feed himself little bits of pear, mango, yam, beans... As long as your baby is gaining weight and healthy, enjoy the convenience of breastfeeding!

Don't worry about it! My DD is almost one and she JUST started solids two weeks ago. and she went straight from nothing to table foods! In a two week span she has eaten rice cakes, arrowroot, cereal biscuits, canteloupe, apple slices, toddler meals like turkey stews and what not, applesauce, yogurt and so on. This is from nothing at all. I too was worried but now I can say from experience they will start when they're ready!

We didn't start with solids until a year--my dd wasn't interested at all even then. When we finally started she'd turn her head away, gag, and even vomit when we tried to feed her. We kept offering food at mealtimes, and at about 14 months she started getting interested. A few weeks ago she hit a growth spurt and started eating solids more enthusiastically--it was really exciting!
She's just eating basics now (her favorite is sweet potato) and not much (often just a few bites, or she chews and spits food out), but we consider it a success.

At 11 months and 25 lbs with no health problems, I don't think you should worry. Keep offering her food but don't force it. When she's ready, the food will be right there for her! I must admit it's nice to have dd play with food at least during mealtimes--keeps her busy and gives us time to enjoy our meal!
Good luck!

My dd is 10 months and also won't eat solids. We started trying around 6 months and she actually sat in her chair and CRIED! We have been offering every few days since. This week she has started eating some organic cheerios and frozen peas. I have one worry though. Now that she is eating some finger food it is not so easy to stick to single ingredient foods for 4 days etc. Cheerios are her first food and they are mutli ingredient (no reaction yet) DD does have a milk allergy which we discovered when she was 4 months old and I cut out all cow's dairy. HAs anyone else just skipped the whole slow introduction process?
