i am feeling very motivated to get rid of [email protected] today, anyone else want to join? i really feel like being ruthless . for instance i realized i don't use all these dang bows (christmas wrapping) that i have, and they are taking up too much space, so if i don't use them, why exactly do i have them? gone! why do i have 4 different kinds of lotion when i don't even USE lotion? dumb. lol, anyway, if anyone wants to join in purging our houses of junk today join in! i will come back periodically and post what i have purged i am really excited about this!

oh also, i realized w/two kiddos and not a ton of extra time it would take FOREVER to get thru my house decluttering, UNTIL i realized if i get rid of A LOT at a time, that solves part of the problem, less time means i have to work BIGGER, so i am looking to get rid of A LOT so that i can be closer to having a simply uncluttered happy less stressful home !!!

I'm in! I really need to get ruthless with some extra clothes that I'm holding on to for no reason whatsoever. Also, a lot of random things that I don't need. I'm up to fill at least 1 bag after this cup of coffee.

I filled a huge bag of dontations, mostly my clothes, and have already dropped it off! That was my goal for the day, along with shipping some items I've sold. I stopped by the PO on the way to the donation box. Woo!

ok i did get some more stuff done, but also had to break to fix dinner and eat and put the kids to bed etc. so now i am back, i am drinking some coffee and taking a short (20 min, so not so short i guess ) break and then i will do at least 1 1/2 and hopefully two hours.

good job wife&mommy that is awesome to get things OUT of the house, that will be the next step for me (and i'm terrible at it) is to move all these things out the door.....!

crunchy doula, you are too cool that you have nothing to get rid of totally awesome, i am jealous (psssst....whats your secret? your best tip???).

Can we start again today? I missed this yesterday but am in a mood to purge today!

I have 4 bags already filled in the front room waiting to go to Goodwill. I have had them filled for weeks. : They need to leave my house today.

I'm also returning a slew of library books today. We had a LOT checked out and have read almost all of them. I had checked out quite a few and then realized I wasn't going to get to them any time soon as I already have about 5 on my current reading plate. They are just sitting on the bookcase looking very cluttery.

My big job this week will be our bookcases; I want to pare (word choice?) them down and then box them up in anticipation of moving. I decided to leave a few essential things - some of our fairy tales/legends/myths and history-based read alouds for the boys (and hs'ing), and a few things for me/dh (probably a total of 10 books for dh and I), and box everything else nice and neatly.

So ... today's goal: library books back at the library; Goodwill bags at Goodwill. Purge 2 shelves on a bookcase and donate those to the library.

going even deeper today. I've been decluttering forever it feels like. But am digging deep today. My goal was to reduce what we had currently to about 1/3 of it.

the simplicity that is emerging is inspiring me to get even more out. cleaning is easier. the kids are playing more creatively with what we have. meals are more thoughtful as i'm trying to utilize the pantry, and things look nicer as the for special times linens and bedding have become our regular day things. that goes for clothes too.

have one huge bag ready to go out, toys ready for a friend to take what she wants and the rest to donation, 3 packages to mail and a couple of days of leftovers about to become one rockin stew!

thanks for the threadstarter!

I am ruthlessly decluttering our kitchen. I am really digging into every nook and cranny to get the little stuff out so while it may not seem like a lot, it makes a huge difference. I am getting rid of sooo much junk! So much paper! So much *stuff*. I probably should get back to work soon

Well, I got the library books to the library today. We just got home from a long afternoon at the park and I'm decompression myself at the computer. (Ds#3 is also nursing, which is a good excuse.)

But, I plan on loading the Goodwill bags into the van so they are ready for drop-off, and then I think I will start going through some bookcases while the boys are getting to watch a little TV for the day.

I really need to declutter my desk area. But, that requires a few hours of filing (I need to clear '07s files, pull tax stuff, shred shredding stuff, file that which is getting saved, and refile some other things that are overflowing. Plus I have a bunch of legal stuff from my dad/his estate that needs to be put together better than it is. Maybe I'll do that tonight and feel better about it being done.)

Ok i am definetly ready to do more today, the day didnt' go quite as planned so i havn't gotten anything productive done yet today, but i do plan too. the kids and i are going to make either sugar cookies or muffins (or both!) and then i need to finish up the stew in the crockpot for dinner. after dinner i will clean up the kitchen and living room and play w/kiddos until bed. THEN i will declutter again, for at least a couple of hours (3 yr old didn't nap so it will be an early bedtime tonight). I will list again tonight what i have gotten rid of and maybe take a picture. i am feeling good, this is so awesome to rid ourselves of clutter, so freeing, and thank you so much to everyone that has joined in, for some reason it really really helps

I have some stuff on my porch waiting for freecycle pickups. I got rid of a huge box of books yesterday. I have been really scared to declutter/clean the laundry room but I have a new approach: keep pulling stuff out to freecycle i.e. books, random knitting stuff and very soon the job will be almost done. it looks a lot let cramped in there especially now that i am completely caught up on laundry! yaya me! I also made a basket with a lid the "special" place where dh puts all his motorcycle apparal that he usually sheds onto living room floor. I strategically placed it right by the front door, and for 2 nights now he comes in and opens the lid and puts all his gear in there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! impressive? yes.

BTW the laundry room is my worst nightmare too, i have been dreading it for sooooo long adn FINALLY truly feel ready to tackle it, just to know it will feel SOOOO good when it is done, how awesome would it be to walk into a clean/organized/tidy room and be able to do your chores with so much more ease, i am totally excited about the prospect of that . Keep up the great work!

me me! I know its not yesterday its today NOW...but I got rid of 4 contractors bags of clothes.
I was planning on ebaying them....but I just want a clean and clear space.....I avoid my basement like the plague....(which is bad because thats where the laundry is)
and I just needed it to go....
so my question is...should I just donate the stuff? its great quality kids clothes but I just don't have the time for ebay right now .
or should I con my dp into putting the bags sealed into the garage and see how I feel in a couple of weeks........
