I started to have bloating, cramping, and abd pain on Thursday lunch time by midnight I was in excruciating pain with diarrhea and cold sweats, all day Friday I had nausea and vomiting. I started to feel better yesterday, but I still have not really been able to eat because of nausea and abd pain and for some reason pretty serious back pain too. I called the MW at the hospital (called my homebirth MW yesterday) and she said I could go to Labor and Delivery to get it checked out, but said since I seem to be getting better in general I am probably ok to wait until tomorrow and see how I feel. I have been able to drink water (although not as much as usual) and I am forcing myself to eat right now. My husband has been watching the kids and is pretty much fed up, he wants to go to the hospital. I just want to feel better
Any advice mamas?

I had a stomach bug that had me violently vomiting for 24 hours. I felt pretty bad for another day or so. I lost 5 lbs in 24 hours..... I started feeling better over the next few days.

I hope you feel better.

Stomach viruses when pg SUCK. I had one when I was about 7 months with DD2--it was like you describe. I hurt so badly from throwing up with my abd muscles all stretched out already! There are only 2 reasons I would head in: dehydration or contrax.

Hang in there and get well soon!

Relax and take care of yourself, there's not much going to the hospital will do for you really except take you away from the kids and possibly get hooked up to monitors to tell you baby is okay... but baby is more than likely okay. You don't have to force yourself to eat just yet a couple days without food wont hurt baby, really really it wont or else my son would have never survived pregnancy because of my HG lasting almost the whole time... part of that weight you have gained is fat stores just in case of instances like this!

The most important thing to focus on right now is getting better, not getting food. Drink lots of water and juices with a good amount of nutrients in them, of course only things you are okay with coming back up (tomato juice... not so much fun going the other way for example)

Stay hydrated and rest and it should be over soon... I had a tummy bug a couple weeks ago that was hitting most people for 24 hours and hit me for a few days. Pregnant ladies don't bounce back as fast as the general population.

DS2 starting throwing up at 3am (Happy Mother's Day to me...) so I will likely have it sometime this week.

Your back ache is likely due to dehydration- I get one every time I have a stomach bug. It will resolve as you re-hydrate. I agree with trying to drink as much as possible and not worry about eating unless you really want to.

I would only go to the hospital if I couldn't keep any fluids down at all. Hope you feel better soon.

i had a stomach bug when i was about 23 weeks with my last pregnancy .. i could not keep down anything, even water for about 24 hours.. it was horrible.. after the first 12ish hours i put myself on bedrest because i was starting to have a lot of contractions from being so dehydrated, laying down stopped them (and had my mom and DH take my then 20 month old) and i did not move (except to use the bathroom) that seemed to really help.. i sipped waterered down gatorade (as suggested by my OB) and did not eat anything but a few bites of crackers for another 24 hours or so.. after about 2 days i started to feel better but i was very weak, i drank some moer and took it easy another day or so and then everything was fine.. i did lose about 8-10 lbs in a very short amount of time.. i gained it back in about 2 weeks.. everything was totally fine besides it being a horrible experience.. :p

I had a stomach virus and lost 5 pounds. I was sick 1 whole week. I went to the doctor. I actually had an appointment anyway at the perfect time. She said I could take pheneregan or zofran for the vomiting and she would call in something for diarrhea if I needed her to. She said she would have called me in something. She suggested lots of fluid. The only worry was becoming dehydrated. Do you see an OB you could call?

I had the exact same thing as you last week, coming off of a week long cold. The nausea and general miserableness lasted days and I thought I would never love food again. I'm happy to report I'm completely back to normal now.

The hardest part is finding time to rest and take care of yourself. I hope you are back to normal in a day or two!

I had the exact same thing when I was around 9 weeks and lost 5 pounds! It was horrible! All I did was puke for nearly 3 days, Dr. said it was a bug and would clear up on its own... it did, but I was miserable.

I did come down with it last night, as did DS1 and DH. Luckily it appears to be a 24 hour thing and DS2 (who was recovered already) slept for most of my getting sick. I wish I would have weighed myself before- I am sure I lost several pounds. I have only managed to drink about 24oz today, but hope to be better tomorrow. There is a noticeable decrease in my girth- surely due to less amniotic fluid.

This is my first bout of stomach flu in a pregnancy and hopefully my LAST.
