I don't know... maybe I'm trying to put him in it too young. He's now 14 weeks and 14 lbs. He really likes facing forward in the Baby Bjorn (but it's hard on my back--no lumbar support). I like the Ergo, but he doesn't. Do you think he'll always hate the Ergo (cause he can't see where he's going)? Or will it be better when he's a bit bigger?

I’m not sure. My DS loves being tummy to tummy with me. However, my nephew HATES facing his mom. He needs to be facing out or he screams. Have you tried a moby wrap or something similar to face out?

As they grow taller, they can see out of the ergo and it makes it more entertaining for them.

My son hated the ergo when he was small, but learned to love, love, love it. So give it some time! I couldn't do a sling any more once he hit 15-18 lbs ish, so we switched to the ergo then. He liked the hip carry on the ergo and the front carry at first, now he's always on my back since he is close to 30 lbs!

my kiddo only liked it once he was old enough for the back carry. i do have an old style one and it is awesome for that. i've tried the new little one and she's not into. she likes my mei tai better i think it's because it's softer and easier to move in. she also loves the ring sling but she's 17 pounds so mama needs the mei tai

My babe is almost 3 months and she didn't like the Ergo either. I left her feet froggy style in it, so maybe her feet were getting squished. I am going to hold off for a month or so more and try again. She love being carried in the Moby, both facing me (for naps) and forward (to look around).

This is one compelling article regarding why babies should NOT be positioned facing out when worn: http://www.storchenwiege.com/babycarrierresearch.htm

I didn't get an Ergo till my LO was 6 months old and I LOVE it now, but I don't think I would have liked it when she was super tiny.

The first time I wore her it was in a Moby, in a front hug hold position, at 9 days. I wore her in the Moby, exclusively in the front hug hold for many months. My Dh preferred our Lucky Baby (a pouch sling). At 3 months I bought a Mei Tai (LOVE IT). The Ergo is essentially a MT with more structure.

We love the Ergo. Don't give it up. Try other methods and revisit the Ergo when your LO is older/bigger.

We used to call our Ergo the scream machine 2.0. The car seat being scream machine 1.0.

He would always scream when we put him in it. We started putting him in the Ergo at 4 months and we would try the Ergo first before relenting and putting him in the Moby. It got to the point where the screaming would only last a minute while he transitioned and then he was fine. Now he only fusses when I have to put him on my back alone.

I think his screaming may have had alot to do with my ineptitude witht he carrier and how wide it held his legs. We have no problems now. He prefers being on my front. I think he still likes to be able to smell his nummies.
