My son flat out refuses to drink milk. He is still BF, so that's good, but he's also skinny. He will eat yogurt and cheese, but he's not crazy about it. He eats avocado and likes bananas a lot. I'm just looking for interesting ways to fatten him up.

We aren't doing nuts until a later age because my brother has a tree nut allergy.

healthy fats don't really put on weight. carbs and sugars do. If he is breastfeeding, that's really much healthier than anything else! it's okay to be skinny as long as he's healthy and his development is on track. some people are just naturally skinny

with that said, I love this smoothie: coconut milk, banana, and I personally put raw egg yolk in but I know not everyone is comfortable with that. I also put a little cocoa in sometimes.

That sounds good! I'll have to get the ingredients!

You know, he eats a bit of carbs and sugars too....more than he should, I'm sure. It doesn't make that much of a difference. His father was 5th percentile for weight until he was 9. I come from a family of beanpoles. The good news (but not really!) is that it definitely slows down as you age! I expect the ped will finally get off my case when he turns 30!

He's energetic and right on track developmentally. I just wish mealtimes were less of a chore, as he is getting very finicky.

et: what kind of cocoa do you put in? What brand, I mean?

We also do the banana smoothie. In fact, for a while when we had ot go grain-free, DS nearly lived off of this, really. We did, banana, raw coconut oil, and raw egg yolks. I personally feel that the egg yolks are crucial to the recipe. I feel that the egg yolks and coconut oil were extremely healing ot my son and helped him really thrive.

Some people hide cod liver oil in there but I did not find that this went over well (CLO makes it taste icky, in our opinions.) I WAS able to hide both probiotic supplements, and vitamin C powder in there, sucessfully, though.

We used to do smoothies... If you want extra fat you can do 1/2 and 1/2, the stuff you put in coffee. It is like milk but with extra fat. 2 oz of that, 2 oz of WCM, half a banana, and some puree steamed veggies is what we would put in dd's smoothies. It helped her to gain weight VERY well. We stopped doing them when she realized we put food in her smoothies and started refusing them, a bit after turning 2.

THis sounds very healthy! Are there specific quantities you use or do you just guesstimate?

I am very bad at winging it, that's why I ask...
