I saw my midwife on Monday evening.

This is likely my last time to see my midwife *T* as she is going on maternity leave very soon - she is due with her baby at the end of December.

The specifics
  • My weight gain is a total of 10 lbs. Thier office scale weighs me about 4 to 5 lbs lighter than my home scale, so it looks weird - I have to remember to just use my home scale (I forgot last time, and it looks like I gained 9 lbs in the last 4 weeks ! )
  • Fundal height is a little high, but good (I forgot to write down the number, I'll get it next time)
  • Baby's heart-rate was fluctuating between the 140's to 150's, and babe was moving a LOT.
  • I got my requisition for my prenatal RhoGam, and told to "if you can get a place locally, get it. If not - no worries" If there are any indications for it between now and the birth, it can be given then instead (trauma that would possibly lead to an internal bleed)
  • Was told NOT to get the GTT, which is good, since I had no intention of it anyhow. She doesn't like how all the local labs have different cut-offs and specifications on how to do the test (ie - some fast, some don't).
  • Got my perscription for my vitamins until the end of the pregnancy - I'll go back to drug-store brand prenatal/postnatals after baby arrives
  • She recoomends chiro over physio for my SI and PSD pain
  • Blood pressure was great - at 112/70
She checked Heather's "baby" after my check-up. And showed Owen how to listen for the baby (the real one) using a regular stethescope. That was really quite sweet.

We also borrowed a few of the DVD's they have available - a couple that show homebirths, and one aimed at older siblings. We found last time that showing Owen videos of a birth seemed to help him when it was time - he was used to the sounds of labour, and the sight of the blood and such.

I just got back from my appt.I was not happy with how it went.
: I choose to go to the office closest to me which only has one doctor and they schedule eveyone for the same time of day. So I basically sat around waiting for 1.5 hours and saw the doctor for 10 min.

I don't know how much weight I've gained b/c I haven't seen my weight in 3 years and want to keep it that way (I'm a recovering annorexic) I'm assuming I'm average since they haven't made any remarks about it.
My blood pressure was 1something over 83 I think? IDK he said that it was good.
Says the baby's heart is about 130
He said my measurements were the exact textbook average-still. (no, really? I *only* hear that everytime..)
REFUSED to do the u/s today like the secretary had told me on the phone. Said he was unaware of it. So I'll have to wait until my next appt...In 4.5 weeks!! No need for me to make an appt. for a week or two since I'll be coming next month anyway he says. So I *insisted* on having an u/s before next month b/c I want the anatomical survey that was recommended for this week. I also mentioned how impatient I've been to find out the sex -for numerous reasons. Oh my gosh he actually had the nerve to tell me I didn't need to worry about the u/s since I'm under 35 and not "at high risk". Helloooo it has occurred in history where women younger than 35 have had children who require extra care and assistance. I really think this is my choice if I want this done- not the doctor's. Guess my ma will have to postpone my shower date as well(she wanted to know the sex b/c I'm so girly and if I have a girl it'll be all princessy-right up my alley)I guessI just had my hopes up and now I'm real disappointed b/c I was putting things off to find out the sex. Not to mention the fact that I'm movign back to AZ *most likely* before my next appt., as I just found out. That means I'll have to be looking for another practice again and won't have my u/s for close to 6-8 weeks!
:
Also it took me so long to get established w/ this practice and I don't want to waste my time looking around again since I won't be here much longer. I don't know what to do- I feel like I'm unappreciated by my doctor and that he doesn't respect *my* wishes. Which by the way I make very clear. Those who know me personally say I'm very outspoken and blunt. I don't just sit there and say OK.
Oh I'm sorry that I ranted on and on I guess I just needed to "get it all out"...

I had an appointment today. It went very well. I gained 2 lbs. in the last 3 weeks, I'm measuring right on for 23 weeks, baby's beat was strong and my blood pressure was good.

I had an appointment last Friday...

weight gain: 2 whole pounds so far!
baby heart rate: 157
blood pressure: 118/80

I asked about the GTT and got a not so great response. Basically, they told me there was NO other option and I had to take the drink. So now, I have to decide if I'm going to do it or not. I don't know. It doesn't seem like a huge thing, but I hate taking the stuff and I hate the way it makes me feel. Other than that everything looked fine!

had my midwife appt. tues morning also. Took the whole family and everyone got to hear the heartbeat. It was 140. My blood pressure was good and wait gain is good. I am not paying any attention to my weight. Not sure why just not interested I guess. I was measuring 2 wks large and I have been measuring a week or 2 behind so it all looks good. We have had the same midwife through all of our pregnancies so it makes it really easy. She hasn't even asked me about any tests which is nice because then I would just have to decline.

Tues. morning had our appt. and baby was kicking and kicking at the doppler. I had a yeast-beastie, and got meds for that. I gained two pounds since last month, and we talked about birth options.
