We're moving back. Goodbye Upper Canada!

is NB what I remember -an extremely conservative uptight province or has it changed? or better put, will I be the lone wierdo? What's the situation with midwives with the no-regulation and outside of provincial covered healthcare? How much do they cost and how do you find one?
We haven't a fixed destination yet (aside from *not-the-north*, DH is painfully unilingual), is there a pocket community of granolaish ap'ers?
Where are the LLL meetings, are any held outside of f'ton, monc and stjohn?

I'm in Moncton and recently met another MDC mama here.
I'd say NB's still conservative, but I wouldn't describe it as uptight. Moncton's grown by leaps and bounds in the last 5-10 years and I think that helps loosen people up. Yk, more people, more pov's. I know nothing about midwives around here, nor about a community of ap'ers (I was just happy to meet another MDC mama!) Most of the people I know with children (not many) tend to have pretty much ap ideals.
Can't answer about LLL meetings outside of Moncton either. I love the meetings here (recommended to me by the other MDC mama I keep mentioning.) If you settle near Moncton, let me know. Well, heck, anywhere in NB is near Moncton if you're not going to the north.

whew! I was getting worried there wasn't anyone there for a minute....
good to e-meet you, abac!

We are thinking Woodstock or maybe Miramichi -depends where DH can get a job. My fam is in F'ton, but I don't want to be toooooooo close, KWIM?

I could only find 3 or 4 (?) LLL meetings in the whole province from their website. I'll call to find any unregistered meetings when I'm down there.

Hey. I'm from Woodstock but we are now living in Bangor, ME. We visit often as my daughter's father and my family lives there. I can't imagine anyone wanting to move to Woodstock... just kidding.
It is still very conservative. So what does your husband do for work?

Hi Canadianchick!

DH is an artist, but of late he's been a courier and is currently installing cable. He's willing to do anything that will pay decently. His real interest is re-educating himself, and will be taking night classes to do so when we are settled. We are both just really sick of the rat race up here, killing ourselves to just make ends meet. Woodstock is pretty much the other end of the spectrum, we plan on buying a place with a bit of property and a ridiculously low mortgage payment! and not live in my mother's lap and the dramas of my extended family, entertaining as they are long distance, up close and personal - not much fun...

I live in Fredericton. Although I have no idea of the answers to any of your questions as I am a loner and don't get out much. (I'm a sahm with three children the youngest is three and is my sick child so aside from dealing with doctors and appointments I am isolated).

I just wanted to let you know that there is one more NB'er here.

Hi again. Woodstock is actually a nice area. It has grown considerably over the past 20 yrs. I bet it has doubled in size. My parents and siblings still live there. Both siblings lived in Ontario for several years and moved back to Woodstock saying that they hated the rat race also. Let me know where you end up. I am in Woodstock often visiting, maybe we could have coffee...
