It really depends on how the reduction was done, she could ask her surgeon. I have had one client with a reduction try to breastfeed but be unable to and one client with an enhancement shall we say be able to partially breastfeed but need to supplement with a nursing system. I serve Western MA but both these mamas are in VT as I serve a three state area.
Maybe she could try her local LLL group. A friend of mine was able to do some breastfeeding and some formula with her kids after having a reduction; I met her at a LLL meeting. I can e-mail her and see if she's comfortable with me putting her in touch with your friend.
She could join MilkShare while pregnant to have some breastmilk on hand until she knows if she'll be able to fully breastfeed. There are lots of donors in MA too, so shipping costs could probably be avoided.
