I'm doing my research right now for ds 3 mos. to see what is right for us. I hear about a lot of kids with autism that have been vaxed, but was wondering if you know or have children on the spectrum who have not been vaccinated.
I am completely anti-vax but I do not believe that vaccinations are the sole reason for autism. I believe that they can be a cause, but so can other factors.

I have seen a vaxed autistic child get completely better on a gluten free diet.
not sure if you know who DR eisenstien is...he founded the "homefirst" medical community and has a radio program. anyway, he is a doctor that acknowledges the dangers of vaccines. i went to his vaccine seminar last night and this topic came up.
there was a reporter that was adament to prove there is no connection between vaccines and autism. he went to the amish communtity (where they dont vaccinate) and said he would find just as much autism there as there is in the general public. well he found about 4 or 5 cases out of thousands of amish. and it turns out ALL 4-5 (cant remember)of those kids were adopted and were previously vaccinated.
here is the article info:
http://www.dissidentvoice.org/Dec05/Pringle1222.htm
oh and this is a quote from dr eisntein:
"Homefirst has five offices in the Chicago area and a total of six doctors. “We have about 30,000 or 35,000 children that we've taken care of over the years, and I don't think we have a single case of autism in children delivered by us who never received vaccines,” said Dr Mayer Eisenstein, Homefirst's medical director who founded the practice in 1973. "
I do not personally know any children that have been diagnosed with autism that are non-vaxed. My own personal belief after the research I have done is that autism does occur naturally in addition to being chemically induced. I am of the belief that the children who have regressive symptoms (in that they developed normally until 18-24 months and then were suddenly struck with autism) are misdiagnosed as autistic and instead are suffering from toxicity from metals or other vaccine reactions.

A few weeks ago Oprah did a show on autism. It did little to discuss the connection of vaccines to autism -- however it was mentioned. Out of the panel of 4 children (and their parents) -- 3 developed autism after developing normally until 18-24 months...and never displayed any symptoms until that point. There was one parent/child who never developed normally and had 'classic' symptoms from the beginning.

So all of that to say -- IMO vaccines are certainly not the only culprit at work in autism but certainly a cause for the drastic rise in diagnosis of autism. BTW, in another recent thread there was a great link to a website about a study on autism that had great info...I will see if I can find it.
I can think of at least three topics on this board with exactly the same title in the last year or so, each yelding a few cases like you're looking for. You can probably search for them if you are good with the search engine here (I am not ).

I do know two children with autism though and both have been fully vaccinated.

My grandson was vaccinated and showed signs of autism. His 4 yr. old fully vaccinated cousin was diagnosed with autism and that made us start to researching vaccines. We also stopped vaccinating at that time.

My grandson has recuperated completely and is now a very normal, very healthy 10 yo. kid.

His cousin is one of the children we know with autism. The other is the son of a family friend who does blame the MMR vaccine mostly. Her grandchildren are not vaccinated and have no signs of autism.
I know of 1 child who has autism and was not vaxxed, however he did have other chemical/heavy metal exposures (such as mom's mouth full of amalgams-not just a few-full). He has responded some to GFCF measures, but is still young (3-something) so has a way to go.

The vast majority that I know, however, were vaccinated.
Yes. In fact, post this on the special needs board here on mothering and you'll find them and you can "talk" about it. They've also posted their stories before. Not saying that vaccines don't play a role in some kids (though I believe there is a genetic difference even in those cases). So no, you cannot guarantee your child won't have autism by not vaxing. I say that for positively sure. But it may matter for some and I still think there are other reasons that a person might want to avoid vaxes even outside this area. You as a parent need to do what you are doing (research) and make the decision that seems best for your child.
I think the danger here is that sometimes as parents we really, really want to feel we have control over stuff like this with the choices we make. Often you realize when you have a special needs child that the control is an illusion. You can make all the right decisions and still have an issue. That doesn't mean the right decisions aren't important of course.
My DD age 19 months-- unvaxed, showing all the signs of autism my vaxed son showed. Nonverbal/ no eye contact etc.. I believe autism is genetic. I have every trait of Asperger's and my dad does too (though not as "badly" as I have it).
My oldest ds is on the spectrum and received only his 2 month vaccines. We stopped after that because we started to research them. I do not believe that those vaccines were the sole cause of his autism. He has always been different though. I do believe that vaccines can be a trigger for some. I do also believe that it has a genetic root.

My ds get some relief from a gfcf diet but he is still autistic and we have added both back in after 2 years with no negative affects.
My family has two kids with Aspergers. One is my nephew, who is fully vaxed. None of my siblings's other children are on the spectrum, and they have all been vaxed. The other is my cousin's daughter (no clue what that makes her), and she has never been vaxed. She was also born at home with a midwife in attendance, and her family has always been very careful about eating organic as much as possible, limiting household chemical use, etc. They have one other child, who is not on the spectrum.
It is possible that my son has autism. I still cannot get any answers. But I am pretty sure that if he is, he was born with it. He had very poor eye contact from birth. I remember asking in the delivery room and for months afterward, "Why doesn't he look at me when he nurses?" Finally I gave up--he nursed for two years and never looked at me while nursing.

He did not receive HepB at birth. I did not have any vaxes during or in the years prior to pg, and I have no metal fillings, I had no rhogam (sp?), etc. I did take abx for BV during pg (huge mistake--I see the studies now show that does not reduce the risk of pre-term labor). I did not see any changes in him following any of his shots and he never had any visible reaction to any of them.

Vaccines most definitely triggered my nephew's autism, which is why we researched vaxes and now no longer vax.

I think a variety of environmental triggers can lead to autism. I do think vaccines trigger it more often than other things just because almost EVERY kid gets vaxes and other environmental factors vary more. Vaxes are a constant in our society.
I have an ASD child who has never had any vaxxes. I ate no fish and have no fillings. There are people all over our family trees though that display all kinds of autistic traits so I firmly believe in a genetic component. And we have had remarkable success with diet and other natural interventions.

There are so many reasons to avoid vaccines besides just the autism link (and I have no doubt there is a link for some kids). It is great you are researching it.
I do not know any unvaxed kids with ASD personally though there are mom's here on the special needs boards who have them. My ds's ASD diagnosis is definately vax related. He was developing at an advanced rate to 18 months. The Dr's wanted us to put him in a special school because his speech was so advanced (apparently it had nothing to do with the home stimulation and he needed more stimulation because he was advanced but that is a whole different rant : ). Then he was vaxed with the MMR. Things went down hill from there. He went totally non-verbal. Started having awful screaming fits, just dissapeared. It was horrible to watch. He wasn't the same child anymore. After lots of testing an MRI showed some brain damage caused by swelling at around 18 months of age. The pedi neuro thinks it is deffinately from the MMR but says we would never be able to prove it in court. He also has digestive and skin problems from all of the toxins. Since starting treatment with a DAN! Dr just after his 5th b-day he has recovered in leaps and bounds. You wouldn't know him if you had met him before and then now. Totally different child. He is talking (he's about 6 months behind his peers, up from 3yrs behind just 6 months ago), making solid eye contact, performing normal self care tasks. He recently got his ear pierced at his request and has been diligently cleaning and caring for it. He is finally potty trained. ANd he is gaining weight and eating better. He doesn't look like a starving child any more, he is filling out. He still has issues, and he will always be a bit "off" but he is so much better. It couldn't be more obvious that the vaccines caused it.

I know several more autistic children, some very close and others just in passing at therapy and Dr's offices. Every single one was vaxed to at least 18months. Many their parents now suspect the vaxes. My cousin is the exception in that he was never normally developing. IT also now appears that his Autism isn't so much autism as autism like symptoms that originate from a totally different genetic condition. I don't think that vaccines are the only thing that causes autism. I think vaccines can trigger autistic symptoms in susceptible children. My son had to be susceptible to encephalapathy and intestinal issues or he probably wouldn't have reacted.
My dd is unvaxed but has SID, her brother is fully vaxed and has autism. (his had thimerasol in them, I'm positive I saw the vials what I know now...anyway) OCD, autism, mental and behavioral disorders run very strongly on both sides of the family.
So while I believe the vaccines did give my son autism, it was our genetic predisposition to damage that didn't help. Without the vaccines he may still have had issues or he may not have but I know it was his "trigger" point so to speak. There were signs from a very early age but they got progressively worse as he grew.
