I started back on the pill a few months (5 or 6 maybe) ago.

Prior to having kids, I was on the pill (different one) for almost 10 years, always had very regular periods. Started on the 'off' week, starting on Tuesday, lasting 2-3 days.

Now, on Tricyclen, I'm starting my period during the last week of 'real' pills and it's lasting through most of the week of 'off' pills. I haven't had a chance to call the doc yet and wanted to see if any of you experience the same thing. If it's something that's just different on a different brand, that's ok, just strange for me.

Thanks for input.

Hi,

I was on the Lo about a year ago and I experienced the very same bleeding that you described. By the time I fianlly went off the bcp, (about 4 months into it) it had even started during the second week of the regulars. It was frustrating and worried me at first, but I read that it's very common in the first few months while your body adjusts. (Never went to my doc)

LOL - I didn't give it much time tho and went off because we are getting ready to ttc!

Thanks- this is a little further into use, so I'll have to call the doc.

not to mention, my insurance changed this to 'non-formulary' and I just found out yesterday that it's almost $50!!!

you can bleed/spot at any time on BCPs. it doesn't mean anything is "wrong." if it gets to be too much of a PITA, you can try another brand.

I was on OTC-lo for 2 months and had WAY too many side effects. i also developed a huge ovarian cyst. i switched to the nuva ring, and still have side effects and spotting, but not as bad. i will probably switch to the copper IUD soon as i HATE putting hormones in my body (long story why i decided to do it short term!)

if you do switch, i've found the nuva ring to be a lot more convenient and a lot less side effects. still not as nice as NFP!

I knwo the side effects can be any time, but any other pill I've been on, I've not had this problem. I've been on the pill a total of at least 10 years. I think I'll just be trying another brand. I don't remember ever trying a tri-cycle brand, just the same all month. I thought that might be contributing to it. actually, the first pill I was on ever was ortho 7/7/7 and I never had a period at all on that.
