Anyone tried a uniform (or near-uniform stash)?

847 Views 27 Replies 28 Participants Last post by  scorpioqueen
I'm curious...because I'm addicted to one certain kind of fitted diaper right now (Muttaqins if you don't already know) and I have tried a LOT of other stuff.
:
I'm thinking about selling all the other stuff still around and just getting Muttaqins from now on.
Is this crazy?

Seems practical.
Experimentation has been fun though...I'm still figuring out wool covers though, so there's that for fun factor.
Anyone done anything like this?

I used to sort of do that -- I used to pretty much only use Sugar Peas. I had a few different kinds of covers but mostly only SPs fitteds. Now I am crazy over SOS and El Bee and they are the majority of our fitted stash. I love having a ton of different wool soakers and covers though.

Oh and really about 1/3 of our stash are Wonderoos because that is what pre-school uses on weekdays. So I guess I could never REALLY only have one thing since fitteds and wool would never work for preschool -- I would never trust them with my presious wool anyway!

I just got my first MB last week and have only used it once but really like it so far!

I love the *idea* of a uniform stash, but I know it would send me into convulsions. :LOL
I had all bumkins aios before. They were all white too. And I had 2 dozen doublers to go with them...white too. Didn't bother me a bit. But that was before I knew about all the diapers out there. Now, I simply couldn't handle it. I have 2 white bumkins aios now, and 3 fleece aios that are the same color. All the rest of unique. I get bored looking at the same diapers. And It helps me remember how many dipes I changed. Lets see he wore the LDs, then the Manyducks, then it was....you get the idea,

For ds I pretty much use all SOS fitteds with Sugarpeas covers. I have a few other fitteds, but really the SOS/SP combo fits him the best.

For AIO's I use almost all Country Cuttins, because again they fit him really well. We have a few HH, a few Angelwraps, and other ones here and there.

But overall I would say his stash is pretty uniform. He's very tall and skinny, and hard to fit, so I've just stuck with what works best for him.
I've done it with fireflys and elbees but it drove me nearly crazy after a while! I really needed some variety to keep myself sane.

I have:
24 white fuzzi bunz and
12 colored wonderoos

I like to "keep it simple stoopid"
I sort of have a uniform stash. I have fuzzi bunz for DH and night time.

For me I have 12 CPFs and 14 MEOS and then I am collecting a few other one-sized diapers for my variety. Usually I use all ME or CPFs for the day and one other diaper, or I will do a day of one of each. That way I have my semi-uniform stash to keep me sane and I have a little variety for the days I need that as well.
I much prefer this. But I like a uniform stash of something pretty, not just 36 Motherease for example.

I've gradually sold everything off and now I have 20 (12 more on the way) gorgeous hemp contours with jewell coloured velour tops, and a stash of various covers, plus soon to be four hemp fitteds for night and a wool cover. The hemp fitteds are all going to be identical too - the pastel sorbet ones from Cyrstals site. If I get in a mood, I can play around with covers without spending too much money.

I cant stand having bits and pieces of everything. I dont want to have to decide which diaper she's going to wear for which occasion, and I like that I now dont have any fleece, which makes washing much easier. I have been known to add fabric softner occasionally to keep the hemp soft and it doesnt impair their function and there's no fleece to repel. I am not going to covet something that's hard to get and then manage to just get one of them. That would drive me insane.

I'll often buy something Im interested in just to have a look at it, but nearly always sell it again. Except last time, I bought the contours and ended up selling everything else.

I don't think I would like that just because I routinely reach for specific diapers at specific times of the day. My ME Sandies are the first diapers I reach for as soon as Rhys wakes up because they are wide in the crotch and I know they can take whatever first morning poop he throws at them (and those can be particularly nasty).

I always use Diaperworks pockets for nighttime because I can mucho stuff them but they don't create huge diaper butt for him and I use Knickernappies pockets during the day because the toddler pocket snap design works wonderfully when he is running around all day and never ever droops.

I could probably get by with just those three types of diapers but from past experience things change over time and what worked for us last week might be a miserable failure this week...so for that reason I like to keep variety around.

I once had nothing but 45 Lukes Drawers OSW and FB for nights with my first dd. I was bored out of my mind, sold them all and bought a variety :LOL. They worked well for Kaylee, so it wasn't a question of fit, function, etc. I just need lots of different brands to keep me happy

Mine has been pretty much colored fuzzi bunz for a while. Now I'm venturing out to VK, FMBG and starting to get some fitteds. I think I have 2 or 3 fitteds for the 2 boys.
For my son, it's very simple. joey bunz-stuffed FB's for night and FCB PUL AIOs for day time. I have one random daisy doodle for him, along with several bumkins aio's if we're just around the house and I haven't done laundry.

I'm working on a fairly uniform stash for my baby. I'll always use prefolds, but side snapping fitteds and wool covers are in my sights right now.
Total mish mash stash here.
Although C has been in mediums for a month+ and I assume he will be a good while longer, so I may start getting a more focused. Dunno.

nah, I prefer keeping dh confused.

DH changes Ronan in the morning, and he'll bring a fitted diaper to me and say, "Now tell me what's wrong with *this* one." (Possible answers: It's a nighttime diaper. It needs a doubler. It doesn't fit.) Poor DH!

And to keep this on topic -- I am using only fitteds and wool covers (some wraps, some soakers) on Ronan. Except for the diaper bag; we use Harleyz pockets for that. I don't think I'd want to go to only one brand of fitteds. I like my variety.

I prefer some sort of uniform. Most of my stash is pocket diapers in some shape or form.

I think if you find what works, it is nice to have the bulk of your stash in that style. But dont go crazy doing it. One day or the next you might find yourself switching just for variety.

Sometimes I'll use just prefolds. Just so I can show myself how beautiful my folding is
