Due to circumstances I may, unexpectedly, be having a UC. One of the things that has kept me from ever really considering this before is that our current living situation is such that there is no place in this house where I can conceive of comfortably laboring. Most importantly, my bathtub is NOT comfortable and I REALLY don't fit in it... and that is where I most like to be, especially in the end.

A friend of mine suggested getting a room at a nice hotel with a nice bath tub.

Have any of you ever done this? What was your experience like?
How did you protect the hotel stuff from the mess?
Any problems with people overhearing the loud moans... almost deep screams... that you may or may not make (as I do) at the end?
Anything else you'd like to add?
Thanks,
M.

Not BTDT but I'd imagine hotels nice enough to have jacuzzi rooms would have walls insulated enough for the sounds that go along with activities common to jacuzzi rooms. I think any sounds that make it through insulated walls would be dismissed as normal hotel noise.

from what i understand though, one of the things that makes a homebirth safer is that the germs present are germs that you're already accustomed to. so by going to a hotel you're going to have the same problem as a hospital with all kinds of foreign germs. but i would think you could just sanitize everything?

i know i'v read a thread on this very topic before....

http://www.mothering.com/discussions...hotel+OR+motel

http://www.mothering.com/discussions...hotel+OR+motel

http://www.mothering.com/discussions...hotel+OR+motel

I think it depends some on how comfortable you can really feel in a totally new place. Would you be worried about being heard? Would you be able to relax? Not worry or feel like you had any time constraint?

I would not be comfortable there so for me, I'd have to be home or in someone elses' home... but you know yourself best.

((Not to mention that when I push I am loud, I don't like to *have* to be quiet unless I want to)).
