I ran an enviro-safe cleaning company for 5 years (first in PA then in Harford County). At the time of my Harford County business, the only other company claiming enviro-safe cleaning was Daisy Maids. When I called to see what they were using it was all Amway products.
I'd ask the company exactly what they consider enviro-safe. I've had many folks plug products from pyramid schemes such as Market America and Metaluca but when I checked those products out they didn't meet my criteria. For one thing they typically contained artificial color and fragrance. Their only claim to the environment was that they were biodegradable. Well EVERYTHING eventually biodegrades including nuclear waste.
I ended up making my own cleaning solutions using the formulas in CLEAN AND GREEN by Debra Dodd. I brought with me my homemade soft scrub (liquid natural soap and baking soda), a shaker of baking soda, a homemade glass cleaner (vinegar and a touch of natural liquid soap) and an all purpose spray / degreaser (vinegar, baking soda, washing soda, Borax, liquid soap). I added essential oils for scent and extra germ killing as well although I don't tolerate most essential oils anymore and so leave them out of my home cleaners now.
IMO, the best way to get good cleaners is to have stability in the workers. That way, they really get to know your house and can rotate some extras like baseboards or vacuuming lamp shades.
