It's a series of little cards with "great" artworks printed on them. Kids do matching, then sorting, progressing to a timeline, etc. Anyway, can someone who's used them share a review? We tend toward unschooling and I wonder if this would be natural and fun, or if the pricey cards would just end up scattered all over the house? The started set is a bit of an investment, so I appreciate your input! --Nancy

I haven't used those, sorry. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/redface.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Embarrassment"> But if you're looking for something less lesson-y, have you seen <a href="http://www.forsmallhands.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=78_205_379&zenid=4ae7f8484df02ea5eea12cbce2066167" target="_blank">Art Memo</a>? It's a $20 memory game along the same lines as what you're looking at, and they really are very sturdy. There's the added bonus (for us at least) of some of the paintings being in books like <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325&tag=motheringhud-20&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FCan-You-Find-Discover-Details%2Fdp%2F0810932792" target="_blank">Can You Find It?</a> and <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325&tag=motheringhud-20&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FArt-Auction-Mystery-Anna-Nilsen%2Fdp%2F075345842X%2Fref%3Dpd_bbs_sr_1%2F102-1949910-8672965%3Fie%3DUTF8%26s%3Dbooks%26qid%3D1188752070%26sr%3D1-1" target="_blank">Art Auction Mystery</a>, so the 'game' progresses as they get older and work in a bit of detective work.

I agree with LilyGrace. We own Art Memo and the Impressionist Art Memo (both of which I bought on clearance in the Louvre bookstore!) and they are nice and sturdy. There are tons of games and books you can get that will serve the same function. I think the Child Sized Masterpieces program is pricey for what you get, there are better ways to accomplish the goal.
