This is my second baby (due in Nov) and I am wishing that I knew about all these great AP baby products before I had my first baby. I am writing up a wish list for my second baby and I was wondering if anyone has good ideas about unusual, fun "AP" things that I should look for.

We already have: 2 slings, a mei tai, an ergo, a Kinderzeat, nice wooden toys, cloth diapers, a good breastpump and we try not to buy a lot of gadgets or things to contain baby (although we do have a second hand swing and one of those playmats).

Any ideas since you all have young babies?? What do you wish you would have asked for?

The beauty of it is that you don't need much! You already have slings so you're mostly covered. I'd ask for books to read to baby, any diapering accessories you may need (travel bag, cloth wipes, used diaper laundry sack...), baby clothes that fit well with the cloth diapers, a few blankets if you haven't got them, stylish nursingwear if you like it, and people to clean house and cook for you while your baby is new. Oh and this isn't for newborn but at a couple months ish, but small playsilks are a big hit with my ds.

I'd also ask for labor and postpartum stuff to pamper mom a bit, massage lotion, teas, music, etc.

hm, sounds like you have everything important! Maybe a potty in case you want to try EC? Getting people to come and cook and clean for you, or drop off meals, would be awesome, so you can spend your time just cuddling with your babe and resting up

The bumbo is really cool, if you are going to put your baby down at all, because he/she can be more part of the action

I don't care what anyone says, a bouncer chair is great for things like showering. I also never want to live without my water sling ever again. EVER!

if i had it "all" to do over again, i would ask for a nice lambskin blanket, all organic cotton baby clothes, and a pre-paid once a week (or twice a month) maid service.
even though i didnt get a lot of mainstream stuff with this baby, its amazing how much i have that i need to get rid of, only 7 months later.
