We've been seeing a great ped in Skokie and are really happy with him, but we're moving to the LaGrange area and I don't want to make a long drive if my young kids are ever sick (wouldn't mind it for annual physicals).

Does anyone have a recommendation in the Western burbs? I'm looking for someone who is OK with our selective, delayed vaxing and won't give unwanted parenting advice or be appalled by extended bf and co-sleeping. And I actually would like a ped who is not just okay with these things but can give informed advice on the topic if needed (like vaxes, our current ped is not completely pro, not completely anti and I've sought his advice on it).

Anyone?? :
Thanks.

We see Dr Daniel Chen at LaGrange Family Medical Practice. We practice AP and he allowed me to nurse while examining my kiddos...In fact, the kids are in my lap and he checks them in my lap (when they were infants/toddlers)...He didn't mind that I chose to delay vaccines...He didn't judge me for extended nursing...He's great!

However, the medical assistants are not the best. I always have to ask for a specific nurse to administer the vaccines.

We tried calling him for an interview and never had any success getting our calls returned... let me know if you have better luck!

I've heard Dr. White in Villa Park is good... He's the son of the one of the founders of LLL.

This may be too far for you...but we see Dr. Overcash and she is the above things for us. Minus the talk on vaccinations. We've not talked to her about the pros or cons, as we don't vaccinate. We may do some later and would talk to her about those, but for now, we've not had the need to discuss it with her, so I'm not sure if she's fully pro or not.

We also have a local area AP group out here. In Oak Park mostly but you are welcome to join us. PM me if you are interested.

I use Dr. Uchitelle in River Forest. Lake west of Harlem. She's very understanding and respectful of delayed vaxes. She only will give parenting advice if asked (don't ask) and is supportive of extended BFing. We don't discuss co-sleeping since it's not her business anyway.

She's referred my daughter to a chinese medicine dr. for help getting her asthma under control as well.
