Our pear trees in the backyard are CRAWLING with aphids. We just realized this the other day when DH was trying to figure out why one tree, that had lots of pears forming a month ago, now has none.

Now we know why the ants have taken up residence in our yard - ants love aphids.

But what do I do??? They are chinese pears, if that makes any difference.

I always spray them directly with the hose at the sharpest strongest setting. It removes them and kills them. A week or two of this and you will be aphid free. Or, you could order some ladybugs off the internet. They eat aphids morning noon and night! If you do this, try to get the kind native to your area!

First, scrub all your baseboards with an enzyme cleaner to remove their trail. Then, you can spread a salt & cinnamon mixture around your windowsills & doorsteps. Also, try planting mint or basil right outside your door/windows. They hate the smell, and it makes them lose their way. When I used to go to wal-mart, I purchased a natural ant killer/repeller there. Don't remember its name, but cinnamon was the main ingredient.
