Okay, so DD (5yrs) had her first diapering lesson today...she wanted to help, but we use mostly side-snapping fitteds, a bit much for a 5yr old to manage on a 2yr old, but she did manage to help her sister put on the soaker!

When we were done, she asked me if she could help change twinkle's diapers! Now I just love the idea of her helping put a diaper on the new babe, but we have mostly side-snap and a few front snappers in the NB/SM stash and I don't think those are going to work. I am still planning to get 6-12 OV nb/sm diapers (I would love to get them from Valor Kids, but she's not taking customs anymore *sniff*), but I have no idea where I am getting them from...I think I can convince DH that we need half a dozen aplix diapers for DD to use to diaper twinkle...so aside from HoneyBoy! what other aplix diapers out their are fabulous and are there any HoneyWahm's who will make fitteds rather than AIOs? Preferably from my fabrics as I would like these to be awesome diapers that DD will love to pull out and try to put on the babe.

TIA

I don't do aplix, but I've heard lotsa good about the Very Baby dipes... there was a thread just yesterday about favorite sources to buy them.

Front snappers would probably make it easier also, my almost 5yo can do them up on her dolls pretty quick.

yeah, we generally don't to aplix either....but I figure those will be a lot easier for DD, so hence the search (we do have two HoneyBoy! fitteds from when we first started CDing). Thanks for the tip...I though VB was AIOs, didn't know they did fitteds...will have to check that out. Thanks!

The Very Baby Very Basic AIO can also be made as a fitted, but I'm not sure who is offering that. You can always e-mail all the wahms and ask.

I had an under the nile fitted w/ aplix that I really liked I'm not an aplix person either-- but you have the most marvelous reason to break the aplix ban Another aspect I like about UTN is that its internal soaker, so its just 1 piece, even easier for little hands.

Did the UTN fit well in the newborn stage? I'm expecting an 8lb baby. They look like they would work pretty well, but they say newborn to 20lbs...and 2yr is only a little over 20lbs! :LOL We've got little booties here (read my 5yr old can wear the 2yr olds longies, but without a diaper of course...tiny heinies in this house...well, except mine! :LOL ) I'm thinking I could get a few of those, but I might need something smaller (like in the 5-12lb) range so that she has a chance to use them right away...I don't want her to be disappointed that her diapers are too big for the baby, kwim?

Oh, and do you know a reliable place to buy UTN?

Thanks a bunch!

Under the Nile, Ecobaby and Vermont Diaper Company all make OC diapers that have front aplix. Happy Heiny's are front aplix...and Very Baby AIOs, too.

The UTN might have an umbilical issue (ie, you might not want to use it til the stump falls off), but after that you should be good to go esp since its got the cross-over aplix too.

You know, since you're only looking for a few-- you could have one of the Mamas that makes prefitteds make a few prefitteds w/ infant or even preemie size PFs and add some velcro to those. That could be a cool, inexpensive compromise and then dd could have those diapers for her dolls.

Not offended at all...I have been thinking about trying prefitteds on an off as we are prefold challenged...I suppose the newborn stage would be a good place to test them out! :LOL

Thanks for all your input...I appreciate it.

Heather at www.zensicallife.com is great to work with if you decide to go with the UTN's. I have had a couple of transactions with her, and she is very quick and sweet.

Her diapers are 15% off cause she is selling her store, and free shipping on orders over $50. There are also some ecobaby velcro fitteds there as well.

Ooh! Those Vermont Diaper Company fitteds look like they might do the trick! The sizing just about what I had in mind too!

Thanks so much mamas! I think I might to a sampling of the UTN, VDC, and some prefitteds...now to find someone who makes prefitteds out of OC prefolds...do they even exist? OC prefolds that is? Ooh...now I am dreaming...OV prefold turned into prefitteds...yes, you can all start laughing now. :LOL

I had a great experience w/Heather too, though I bought a stroller and not a diaper lol. Lovin' the stroller! Communication was great with her.
