I would like to do this. When I first interviewed the school a few weeks ago, the principal said they spray once a month in the cafeteria, hallways, and school office. She said she didn't know what day it happened on, then went on to say how it is safe for dc and animals. Yea right!! They spray on a day after the dc leave the building(3:30ish) and the dc are back the next morning! That's not even a 24hour break!

Has anyone dealt with this before? Does anyone have evidence I could present to them? Any BTDT??

TIA,
BS the principal doesn't know what day it happens on. She would have to approve them coming in, plus I really doubt they would not smell the chemicals.

What exactly are they spraying for? What chemical are they using? Then research and see if you can find an alternative for what they're doing.

I think I"d be more concerned that they're spraying the cafeteria where the food it. I wouldn't send my kids to a school where they spray it every month.

At our school, there was some sort of either districtwide or county wide law passed saying they have to notify us any time they spray. They send written notification beforehand telling us what it is, and where they are spraying. Maybe you could find out about getting a petition going among the parents?

Carrie- I obviously don't like the spraying either, which is why I would like to do something about it. It is sort of a tricky situation for me, as I opposed the vax issue(HepB-and won!!!!), ans we are new. I read an article in Mothering about sick schools. I just can't find it!

I think rather than start a petition, I will write a letter to the principal and Priest, then superintendent. Notification is a good idea, but I still think we can do better than that.

THanks for the replies!!

Yes, I'd be really concerned if they were spraying that often in the caf. I'd really want to know the reasons why they were having to do this. I mean, do they have a roach or rodent problem?: The one time that they sprayed at our school this year (outside in an area where my child doesn't play) it was due to burrowing rodents. It isn't something that should have to be repeated often.
