It's only my second day in this due date club, and I'm afraid I may already get a drama-queen label.
:
We had freezing rain all day here yesterday and it was a bit of a freak storm, because the weather has been increasingly spring-like lately. I went to pick my daughter up from daycare and on the walk in I slipped on a patch of slippery grass, stumbled a bit, and fell off the curb smacking my stomach HARD. Ow!
I semi-composed myself and went into the daycare to get DD, but I had tears in my eyes so the staff knew something was up. I told them what happened but made it seem like I was fine, just majorly scraped up. One of the staff helped me put DD in the car and as soon as she left, I started crying and semi-hyperventilating. I called my husband at work to come home and called the LDU at my hospital and they told me to come in (I`m 41 weeks along today).
My MIL came over to take care of DD and got pulled over by the police on the way for running a stop sign. Ooops. She explained the situation to him and he followed her to our place to make sure everything was okay. He wanted to call an ambulance for me but I declined. I wasn`t having any pain or bleeding...aside from the road rash, I mean.
So hubby and I made our way to the hospital and they hooked me up to the heartrate monitor. Baby was fine...more than fine actually. The nurse couldn`t believe how much he was moving - it looked like he was trying to kick the monitors off! We had to stay to be monitored for about 4 hours, and all seems to be fine. They advised me to come back right away if I start bleeding, cramping, leaking fluid, etc.
I cried off and on for most of the night, mostly out of fear and also because I really hate attention. I felt like I wound everyone up into a panic for nothing. My husband reassured me that it only made sense to be cautious.
I`m still a bit nervous and don`t plan on leaving the house today. It`s still really icy outside, so I think I`ll play it safe and stay in my hut.
