<p>Anyone else feel like they simultaneously hate the feeling of wide elastic bands pressing against their lower belly but could also use something to support that belly? By the middle of the day it seems impossible to be comfortable, at least in pants. My husband suggested I get the (unfortunately fictional) suit that Queen Amidala wears running around in Star Wars episode 3. (I have 3 boys and a SW loving husband. I gave up fighting SW references long ago) </p>

<p>In the meantime, I'll be wearing as many dresses and tunics with leggings as I can until the weather warms up enough for my skirts. We just got another 8" of snow yesterday after just barely seeing the grass for the first time since November. </p>

<p>Gah, I'm ready for spring. I was counting on a 3rd trimester of decent weather.</p>

It has not been quite as bad here as where you are, but definitely still bad. My OB looked aghast at our last appt as we said goodbye: I told her if it was snowing when I have my next appt (on June 2nd), that I wouldn't be coming. It took her a minute to realize I wasn't serious. It didn't occur to me at the time that we actually might still have snow in June!

Snowing here today too- and I'm not happy about it :/ . It's hard to motivate myself to do any baby prep since the summer seems like it's still soooo far away! I've also been slacking on exercise- I keep saying that as soon as it's warm, I'll get outside more to walk/hike (which I've done on the few warm days we've had), but at this rate, I might be waiting for another month! Time to bite the bullet and get on the stationary bike or do some sort of indoor workout.

<p>That's me on the exercise, too. I was cross-country skiing with the kids on Sundays during Jan and Feb, but the trails weren't maintained/lessons ended/I didn't care anymore in March. I swim while they're at their YMCA class on Tuesdays most weeks but this week was off for spring break and I didn't even try to get to the gym. I decided that around 27 weeks, it wasn't worth going to my BodyPump class anymore and I thought I'd be able to take walks after dinner at least, instead. But there was only one day a week ago when the temps were warm enough and roads dry enough to get out there.  </p>

<p>Last time, I was due mid-August and I got outside on my bike with the kids starting during a warm March before I got huge and kept biking until almost 37 weeks (he was born 3 weeks early). I thought I'd be able to do similarly this time, but the combination of late spring and 6 weeks earlier due date is not working out. I've biked a little on a stationary bike over the winter but I'm not sure it's safe to start outdoor biking at this point. Phooey.</p>

<p>I'll keep telling myself that it will be lovely weather when the baby comes and I'll be glad to be able to send the kids outside while I rest then.</p>

<p>ugh. Yes, we've still got 4 feet of snow in my front yard. I keep itching to be able to wear flip flops and dresses, but it's been averaging like -10 or 14f for the past two weeks, so not so much... BUT our average -high- over the next two weeks is saying 6c or around 42c. So I guess we'll see what happens. It would be wonderful even just to ditch the winter coat and boots. </p>

<p>I don't think I've mentioned it at all, but I'm 30 weeks now, and officially on short term disability as of last thursday. I finally got to the point where the swelling in my legs was so bad I literally couldn't work anymore. So I'm on the std until the baby is born, and then I'll start official maternity leave. It's such a relief to be off work and giving my body time to recover. I was in so much pain and discomfort, every. single. day. It was so horrible. So now I'm home and trying to keep my feet up more and pace myself. Even just in a couple days I can feel the difference. </p>

<p>It's also weird though because now all of a sudden I actually have 10 weeks of 'time' to prepare for the baby's arrival and get stuff done around the house, whereas before, I barely had time to shower. I don't think it's really hit me yet, but I have started trying to be productive little by little. </p>

<p>Today we were working on a Boppy cover we're making. Also tons of organizing in our basement. We finally have carpet isntalled! It's SO wonderful. And we started getting the storage spaces organized, and our living areas down there all set up properly too. It's coming together! </p>

Nope, I know they do it for everyone and my friend who had her second baby a couple of years ago... two different practices same schedule..and everyone in my other DDC from all around the country the same..none of them are FTM either</p>

<p>I think that's the schedule I've had in the past, but at my birth center this time, they stick to every 4 weeks all the way to 36 weeks, then switch to weekly. I like the every 2 weeks during early 3rd trimester approach and was bummed to stick to monthly.</p>

<p>I went crazy today and accomplished a ton of stuff. I've been tired and sore over the past few days but not today and I ran with it (did some canning, a bunch of work for my WAHM job, finishing taxes now, inventoried the freezer, helped the kids clean the basement, etc). Dang, it feels good to cross stuff off the list.</p>

Sorry for the confusion, guys! My OB is my backup provider. She prescribes my blood thinners and every-6-weeks ultrasounds to manage my blood clotting disorder. I only see her once a trimester (12w, 24w, & 37w). My primary provider is a home birth midwife who sees me in my home. She's been here every 4 weeks since 13w. I switch to every 2 week appointments with her at around 33-35w, then every week at 37w.

<p>I have at least one appointment every single week from last week (31wk) onward. Technically they're only every other week, but since I need to see the OB, and want to see the MW, I see them alternating weeks, till 35 or so, then every week for both of them after that, plus the every 3 week U/S the OB requires ... My calendar is getting pretty full -- good thing I don't have a job I'm supposed to be at! I've got to start arranging sitters for DD though, I think we've used up most of her toddler-level patience with all the appointments so far.</p>

My last appt. Is next Tuesday the 15 and I am so happy! The midwives discontinue care at the beginning of the third trimester because of their insurance liabilities. I love being cut free!

Just almost-finished (I'm lacking a tapestry needle to sew the ears on) a bear hat for our wee one, and a friend of mine had her baby girl today (7 weeks early, way healthier than a baby that early should be... IMHO, I think they miscalculated her due date)...<br>
Still waiting for my ankles to swell, but having a harder and harder time bending over... Such is the 31st week of pregnancy, I suppose.

<p>Yeah It's really funny how much more I enjoy my mw appts than I did last time with my OB appts. There's just SUCH a different vibe to them. The mw appts are about getting to know each other and see what's on my mind. The OB appts always seemed like a "we're just waiting for something to go wrong, so we need to keep checking in on you..." </p>

<p>I went 5-6 weeks ( can't remember the dates...) in between my last appts. And then 3 weeks in between that one and this one. I'm 30 weeks now, and have an appt on wednesday, during which I'll also do the glucose testing. She's given me the a-ok to come up with my own 50g of glucose rather than the nasty drink, which I am so thankful for. I had anxiety over drinking that again! At any rate, I assume I'll probably see her again in 3 weeks (so 33 weeks, and then switch to every 2 for a few visits and then up to every 1. It seems to be flying by! </p>

<p>I've been off work for just 5 days and my body seems amazingly different. To the point where I actually felt guilty for going off, because I was like oh... maybe it wasn't as bad as I remembered. And then I tried to walk up the stairs today after grabbing something from the basement and had to stop halfway up to catch my breath and wait for my heart to stop pounding lol. </p>

<p>I'm finally starting to feel better this past week. The heartburn has died down a little (although I'm sure it will rev back up in no time), and my back feels about 90% most of the time….a huge improvement! He's kicking around like crazy in there, and while it does hurt sometimes, I'm grateful that I can feel him so often. </p>

<p>As a result of feeling good physically, I'm feeling really emotional -- in a good way. I cannot F***KING WAIT to hold this little boy. I want to squeeze him and rock him and smoother him in kisses. I'm so thankful that we finally got (and stayed) pregnant, and that soon enough I'll get to hold my little bundle. EEEEKKKK!  </p>

<p>I made a few mobiles this week; Montessori-inspired of course!  A high-contrast shapes & baby faces one, a Gobi mobile, and a just-for-shits-and-giggles airy colorful one made from translucent paper birds. We're getting more concrete on our ideas for the nursery, and my sister moves out of that room in about 3 weeks. Wow!  Time is flying!</p>
