Hello everyone. I'm feeling much better emotionally today. A spotless second day!!

Someone said in thread #2 that they were thnking maybe this one's a girl b/c of the m/s. I've always heard the saying that m/s early in pregnancy means you are having a boy. But none of those old tales mean anything. I sweep at night just the same . . . only I use a dust pan.

I don't know if having m/s or not has anything to do with whether you're having a boy/girl. With dd, I had no m/s at all. Now I have a mild case of ms. With dd, I had no special cravings. I've always had a sweet tooth, so I indulged a bit. With this pregnancy, I cannot eat anything sweet or I get this blah feeling. I've been eating a lot of spicy foods, if its up to me I can eat curry every meal. DD is a very mellow, sweet girl. Now I'm thinking with all this spicy food I'm consuming, maybe the next baby will be (well, how should I put it) more high need and full of character?

The weather's' been really nice here so I did quite a bit of yard work this weekend. Being outdoors really help me with ms. Hope all you mamas are feeling better. BTW, when does ms start tapering down? With a previous mc, I worry now if I don't feel sick enough.

Hi all!
Happy tuesday.
Im feeling so much better. I just ate a bowl of cereal. The house is immaculate (almost ) DH worked all day yesterday cleaning, doing laundry, going food shopping, putting books we arent going to need/want in the next 2 years(we'll be moving then) up in the attic (boxes and boxes!!-we are both bookworms). He went through his whole desk corner and threw away so much old paper clutter and our 1 closet. He prepared himself for his new rotation starting today- and even laid out his clothes. He was SO happy when we went to bed and I was too!!! So I guess my point is emotionally Im a lot better.

We just found out his parents or just his mother are coming to visit the weekend of oct. 19. I will be 16 weeks by then and DH had the idea to put the u/s pictures in the back of our photo album from some trips we took earlier this summer. Then let them look through the album. Isnt that adorable?! He is so excited to tell them. I dont know how Im going to tell my dad or brothers... My mom and stepdad know because they've been helping us with some of these huge medical bills.

Im not having an u/s today for the first tues. in a while. It makes me nervous- Im addicted to that reassurance!! I had a weird feeling in my stomach yesterday- it wasnt a pain or a pressure or a cramp- it was like a fluttering weird feeling. It didnt feel like digestive/gas pain. It sort of has me worried. Because I havent felt anything like it before...is that a normal growth feeling or something to worry about. No spotting- though with the amt of progesterone Im on Im afraid something bad could happen in there and it would come out until I stopped the suppositories... :

On a brighter note: 2 days until 10 weeks!!!!!!!

someone was asking about second trimester... I think the second trimester begins with the 14th week LMP but after week twelve LMP the chance of m/c drops significantly.

I am finally feeling like this might happen. August was my scary month that I really wanted to get through. before I was only looking ahead to 14 weeks and now Im looking ahead to oct , nov, dec. I guess my next goal that Im looking forward to is next tuesdays u/s. If I see that everything is good then (10 weeks, 6 days) I will be soooooo psyched!!

Awaiting a shipment of new books from amazon, my big treat for this weeks bedrest!!

Im so jealous of all you who are getting maternity clothes and little baby things!!

I seem to have put on a new layer of fat all over my body (upper arms esp.) and my midsection is just very thick and rounding. I fit into one pair of shorts, 2 skirts that I wear high, over my ribs, and 2 tanks and 2 new long sleeve that are non maternity but large.

sorry about the book

Madrone thats so great about another spot free day, what a relief!!

Have a great short week everyone

Good Morning Ladies!

madrone - I'm glad to see you are spot-free, you should have all of your herbs now and hope your appts this week go really well. Sounds like you know exactly what to do, its just scary. Hang in there, keep resting and you'll be fine!

coco - I'm so glad you are feeling better too, I can imagine how frustrating it is to be on bed rest and just want to clean the house. Sounds like your dh took great care of that for you!

Christina - I'm glad you pulled it off with the IL's. So sorry you're feeling awful, have you tried ginger?

I'm feeling pretty much the same, tired all the time. I had a case of the "blahs" on Sunday, I wanted to do something, but didn't want to do anything I could think of. The weather was cold and rainy, so that didn't help. I just felt a little down and guilty for laying around so much. But yesterday was great, the sun was out and warm, I got out for a motorcycle ride and had a blast. So I feel better now, just tired, my usual. I can't wait for that magical second trimenter to come along!

I have the Sears' Pregnancy Book too and I love it. I do get a little confused when each book counts differently (LMP vs. gestation) but I'm like bellafinn, I want the extra two weeks, so I am going by LMP (almost 10 weeks!).

We should keep track of who has m/s and who doesn't so that when we have our babies, we can compare sexes and see if it correlates.

glad to hear most people are feeling well. Congrats Madrone.

I am definitely feeling pregnant. I'm not *that* huge but my body is starting to feel different, heavier in the abdomen. Like my weight center is shifting. And sometimes I look in the mirror and surprise myself w/my little pudge area!!

I have had almost the exact amount of MS w/all my pregs. (though this one is a little more I think) and so far I've had a boy and a girl too. I don't think there's much correlation either. I am definitely having cravings (sour, spicy, salty....and THEN sweet!) similar to ds's preg. It's hard to say if it was the same w/dd since I was eating so differently, KWIM? My pre-mom and post-mom diet is completely different.

Well happy week everyone.

Hi ladies. Sorry I haven't been around as much lately... I've not been feeling very well this past week or so. I actually threw up for the first time yesterday, right after eating tuna noodle casserole. I've been really tired too, spending most of the day laying on the couch and sleeping as much as possible.

We mailed out the pg announcments at the end of last week, so I"m expecting some phone calls starting today or tomarrow. I was so excited to do this, in this way, but now that I've done it I'm really nervous! I just want everyone to be happy for us this time.

I had my dh take my first "belly shot" today. I already look pg from not losing any weight after having my c-section w/ my ds. I'm really needing some new pants already, but can't afford to buy any yet. I tried on a few of my pants and shorts from my first pg but NONE of them fit! I was so upset! I'm bigger starting this time, but I was hoping that at least some of them would fit! The shirts will work, but many of them are not the right season! ARGH.

Oh, Christy, lay down and take some deep breaths, try to relax. I know, much easier said than done. Hang in there, and try not to get too freaked out, that's not going to help. The more relaxing you do, the better. It sounds a lot like what many of us here have experienced, and hopefully you won't see any more of it than that little bit. We are thinking of you, keep us updated. Sending you stickies

ciserosum - I haven't really delved into the world of birth plans just yet, and would also love to hear others' words on them. I would think that with a homebirth, you would still probably want one, esp if your midwife can or will do things more than one way. I was reading some info from my midwife over the weekend and there are things that state law requires them to do, but I can sign off a refusal. A birth plan will probably be a nice little cheat sheet for them at the birth to know what I have accepted and refused and also for an emergency transfer, it would come in handy.

Oh and I forgot last post, Kendall - I know its a tough spot when you are craving the meat (or whatever else food) and don't eat it. Just know that if you go for it, its not a no turning back situation, you are doing it for the baby in the time that you need to and you can happily go back to veggie-hood when its over. You can get "happy" meat, organic, local farmed, free-range, from animals that had a good life and not put through the nasty meat packing factories, etc... Whatever you do, feel good about it. It will probably be some sort of compromise for you whichever way you go, so use your best momma instincts.

christymama: Hang in there. I think pink discharge is normal for some preg women, so everything should be okay. Is there any other way you can get an ultrasound? Have you tried calling your dr's office to see if there is an emergency number you can call? I went thru a mc in May, so I know what you're going thru. Please try and relax and think positive thoughts. I have good feelings about your little one.

Regarding birth plans, I didn't really have a written one with dd. My midwife had a pretty detailed questionaire and we filled it out together around the 3rd trimester - things like if I wanted to be check multiple times after I'm in labor, Vit K ointments for the baby,... I think if I've written up a birth plan, she would have liked that too but I don't think I would have been able to cover all the things in her questionaire. You might want to talk to your midwife to see whats best for all of you.

Christymama: If your doc's on vacation he HAS to have someone on call for him in case of emergency, call the office and find out who it is. Otherwise you can always call the OB department at the hopital and get treated/seen there if your totally freaked and need the reasurrance. Do whatever makes you feel better, just hang in there

sarahmae1: good luck for great responces on your birth announcments!!

Feeling icky today. Hubby did better yesterday with helping me since i felt bad. He's usually like, "What do you want now!" It drives me nuts. Anyway, I know he's trying.... I think

Fixing supper is SOOOOO hard, it requires actuall food preparation. Lunch with the kids is so much easier, we can always throw together sandwiches, or cereal or something!!! We are grilling tonight, I just can't stand the SMELL of cooking meat, but I'm craving the steak were going to have!!

Christymama I spotted a pink color discharge with Kimberly I remember being scared but like you I didnt have any cramps and it went away and I went on to have a healthy pregnancy. but I know what you mean about being scared of having another m/c I had one back in May and it was not easy. I would call your doctor and ask him what he thinks.

thanks guys, The spotting has really tapered off. I dont have much. this moring i kept wiping and there would be a streak of pink and i wiped like 7 times until i made myself quit. i have seen it a few times since this morign but it seems to have tapered off. I dont have cramps i just have this gonna start my period feeling. but it isnt painful. I will just have to wait in two weeks when i go in for my ultrasound. My dr isnt here he is out of town i have no way to get ahold of him . So i will just keep drinking my water and keep my feet up . and pray . I knwo that if i am gonna m/c again then i will no matter what i do . So i am just gonna keep it up to my body because if i lose this one too it is obvoious that i wasnt ment to have more then the 2 kids i have. We wont be having more after this. whatever the outcome is. Anyhow sorry for being such a downer.I hope you are all well.

Christy--keeping you and your little babe in my thoughts!

Cicerosmum--w/our LM assisted HB, we had a birth plan of sorts (meaning we opted out of eye drops, and some other stuff) and philosophy-wise. IMO, you are kind of at the whim of your careproviders whoever they are....they usually have a modus operandi, KWIM? However, MW"s are usually more receptive and have seen more variation of what people want. I think it is very worth while to have a birth plan no matter what. We also wanted a very hands-off, husband-assisted birth that didn't happen. ANYWAY, even w/our last birth (a freebirth) and this birth another planned freebirth, I will carefully think about what I want and what I need to have on hand, KWIM? What are you planning thus far? have you decided on your birth location?

Okay, anyone else looking HUGE? I thought I was looking a little preg. but was at yoga tonight and looked at my side profile!!
I look about 4-5months. What a wake-up!! On the other hand, I actually am kind of excited to look preg already.
