I've had this discussion with retailers and consumers alike a few months ago on another board and we came to the conclusion that they are not the same but are by the same manufacturer.

Anyone else have any insight on this?

Hmmmn. How are they different? Which ones are better then? I can't imagine why people would buy Chinese unless there is some drawback to these! They are soft as satin! And seem to absorb just fine. So much more comfy. A bit smaller than Chinese though, which would be a reason to get cpfs I suppose. Anyone who knows anything else, please share!

For some, it's all about the water! I know my Chinese are softer than my Indian but it's because of my water.
But both are still soft and my Indian are very smooth.

I would like to know if they are the same thing too.I thought they were different but lately I have seen people posting that Baby Textiles were Indian prefolds so I am confused.Did they change what prefolds they carry?
according to baby textiles their prefolds are now made in india... so i was under the impression they are indeed one in the same
I have dozens of them and they look identical to indian prefolds to me. There was a discussion on diaper pin about it once and it was concluded they were indian prefolds.

I'm really not sure. I love my Babies Textiles UB Prefolds! They're so soft and so much more absorbant that my CPFs. I use them exclusively for my dd at night. But you're right, they are a bit smaller than the CPFs.
I'll ask the ladies I bought them from and post back.
Aren't they nice! I'm liking these so much I don't mind getting the toddlers when these are too small, whereas you could probably use Chinese premiums until potty training huh? But my guy is 4 months so that is the last thing on my mind.
Oh well it looks like things have changed! lol I guess they are all indian!

The All Together Baby Company imports and sells & wholesales the Indian prefolds as their Unbleached diaper. Their Bleached diapers are yuck in my opinion(the scratchiest prefold). BUT once the yucky ones run out they are going to sell Bleached Indian in place of the bleached they are selling now. They both sell on their site as Babies Textiles Diapers

The bleached Indian's stay soft when hung on the clothes line. Compared to all the other kinds of prefolds (Chinese, European, and Unbleached Indian) At least that has been my experience as I have some of all the kinds.

do any of you know since when the baby textiles unbleached prefolds are in fact indian prefolds? I bought mine a year ago, and I am super satisfied with them, but since I have nothing to compare them to, I thought I was missing the real thing...
Where the UB from bt always indian?
I'm really confused...
I have the UBPFs from baby textiles and I love them SOOOOO much more than my chinese prefolds, and so do my friends. To us they are softer and thicker and more absorbent.

I wonder if the indian thing is true?
I got a sample of the unbleached and the bleached Babies Textile and the bleached is Not Nearly as soft as the unbleached. there is no way I'd get the bleached!

And, I asked the WAHM I bought from and she said she thought the only difference between the babies textile and the Indian is where they are made. Textile in the usa, I assume, and the Indian in India?

Sara
I think the textiles are made in pakistan(where the WAHM that ran the co-op told me they were made)
The white gauze diapers are the original babies Textiles and were made in Mexico. All Together Diaper Co who import/sells them also calls the Unbleached Indians Babies Textiles too so it is very confusing. I asked Teresa at Granitesmith this question and this was her answer

The Company importing them is the All Together Diaper
(ATD) company. He does sell Baby's Textiles, which
come from Mexico. The unbleached are made in Pakistan,
but the testing we had done on them here when I first
started carrying them indicated the cotton was from
India, so I referred to them as Indian cotton.
Apparently sometimes the cotton may come from Pakistan
too, I really need to call them something that
reflects that, but because the first ones we tested
were Indian cotton, that is what I called them and it
stuck.

I think the confusion is because he (Dennis at ATD) is
calling the unbleached ones Babie's Textiles as well,
that is his trademarked name, so he can apply it
however he wants to. But they are two different
diapers from two different places. If you get white
ones from him from his old stock they come from
Mexico, but I think he is totally switching over to
dipes from Pakistan/India.

Apparently he has or will soon have (not sure) bleached "indian" prefolds. And I am also waiting for 4x6x4 unbleached regular size "indians" which are also supposed to be in the process of being available.

yeah, when we ordered a few dozen around the beginning of the year the packaging said made in india
so as a wrap up, LOL... All Together Diaper Co./ Baby Textiles Unbleached are what are commonly referred to as indian prefolds.... the bleached are made in mexico for the time being? good to know

I think they are all now made in India/Pakistan. But he does have remaining stock of white GAUZE diapers that are called Babies Textiles too so just be sure to ask.

I've got unbleached Baby Textiles and they stay really soft on the line too - much softer than my CPFs. But then again I don't have any bleached Baby Textiles so maybe they are really much softer.

Thanks for looking into this for us!! It's all so confusing
