I'd like to buy a bunch of Waldorfy supplies- crayons, paper, paints.... but they are so expensive! Does anyone know if there are any buying co-ops going on on yahoo groups right now?

I'd love to participate in one of these!

I'd also be interested in doing something similar for silk scarves to do playsilks with. Dharma trading co has good prices, but I am all about the cheap!

Hello there! I've never run a co-op before but would be willing to help. Mercurius offers discounted prices to homeschoolers. I don't know if they do co-ops though. I'm waiting to get my homeschooler prices but they are updating the website and the person I spoke with said it wouldn't be done until mid-month.

I have sent an email to them to see if they will do a co-op. I'll post here when I hear from them.

Sounds awesome! I was on their site, but maybe I just feel like death, but I didn't see an order form on there. I can't wait to hear if they will do a co-op! I need lots of things!

I would definitely be interested in it as well!
Any idea on their prices? They can not be too cheap as you would need to order from Germany directly,.....although cutting out the middle man makes it cheaper...
How would this buyiong co-op work? Sorry all new to this.
I don't know about any art supply yahoo groups.
My local hs group co-ops for Mercurius stuff. It's pretty simple to set up with them as a hs group. Really you just have to get enough people together to meet the $150 minimum.

IMO the best art supply type things to get from Mercurius are the Stockmar crayons and Lyra pencils.

For a price example, the Stockmar Waldorf set 8 tincase crayons is $6.49 from Mercurius at the hs co-op rate, but at Nova Natural it's $11.90.

I wanted to make sure it was okay to post this, sorry for the delay:

this is a group where people post stuff they want to get rid of and stuff they are looking for

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/waldorfexchange/

you have to join to participate

It is not a super busy group, but sometimes people offer great stuff. Also, if you list things you are looking for someone may have extras to get rid of.

But if you are purchasing $200-$549 the discount will only be 10%; $550-$1,449=20% discount; $1,500 and over 30% discount

Sort of changes things unless you get a very large co-op going.

Oak Meadow is offering a discount on some of their art supplies until June 30th also I have found that www.waldorfsupplies.com have relatively cheaper supplies.

Yeah, I went ahead and ordered my supplies through OM when I ordered their K curriculum. If you are looking for stockmar block crayons, make sure you buy them off of their pre-k page... they are 20% off there, since it is part of the curriculum, but if you buy them off of the, "crafts and supplies" page it is just 10% off. Same with the watercolor kit, get it at the pre-k page, it's a 20% discount instead of a 10% discount. It was a fluke that I happened to notice the different in % off as I was comparing the pre-k and K curriculum.

I got all of our stuff at atoygarden.com She has really reasonable prices, especially on play stands and silks! I'll be checking out these other sites though, always looking for a bargain!

Willow tree toys has really great prices on wooden toys and the like. They also have wooden recorders for under $6!! Rainbow resource co. has alot of melissa and doug wooden toys cheaper than anywhere and some neat beeswax candle kits. Paper is cheap there also. The cheapest place I have found to buy strathmore watercolor paper is micheal's when they have it at 40% off.

Thanks for the tips! I just ordered from OM. I finally was approved and given a password and whatnot for the Mercurious supplies and was disappointed to see no real savings for my small order. Oh well!
