My son is 17 months old, so recently we've been doing a lot more "art". He has an easel and some art supplies (paint, chalk, crayons, stickers, etc.) but I've been avoiding the "messy" stuff because this was in our office and... well, I didn't want the mess

SOOO I've decided to set up an art area in our basement for him. I am really excited about it, and was looking for some suggestions. It's a large area. I put his easel down there, and used an old coffee table that is the perfect height for him to stand at. I want to hang some clothesline along the wall to hang pieces to dry. What else would you put in a space like this?

I thought about little hooks on the wall to hang his smocks. I put a plastic organizer with drawers on the floor, so it's at his level - and I'll keep his crayons, markers, etc. in there.

Any other ideas? I'm super excited because now we can go down there and get messy with no worries about the walls or floor. We have a bathroom down there too we can clean up in.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

One of the things we have done for dd (26 months old) is to paint a wall in our kitchen with chalkboard paint and also with magnetic paint. It was an unusable wall, and this was the best thing we could have done, she has a great time......

Have you thought of also creating a little music space for him? A place where he can jam! Music is art too afterall...
