I live in a townhome complex and our stupid sprinkler system goes on in the middle of the day. I e-mailed the HOA about it but have not heard back so now I plan to hound them but would love some literature about why this is a bad practice - environmentally and also for the grass/plants. TIA.

It's not bad, just stupid. If you water during the hottest part of the day you are just wasting water b/c it just evaporates. If you water when it is cool....dawn, dusk, night, etc. the ground actually absorbs the water. Otherwise you are just watering the air.<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/winky.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Wink"><br><br>
OST, it's not stupid. Just inefficient, wasteful, and silly.
