<p>Hi guys! i have been TTC since my July cycle.  I'm hoping this will be the cycle it happens!!! I know it will happen this cycle!!</p>
<p>Here's the kicker, I teach at a school in Brooklyn, NY and just found out the room i was teaching in since Sept. 2005, was retiled, due to asbestos abatement!!!!! OMG!!!</p>
<p>Some woman have had miscarriages and one woman gave birth October '09 had her baby was born with cysts on his lungs. Another woman's baby was born with digestive problems and he is hard of hearing.  This is so outrages!!!! What about the poor children who are in this building trying to learn  <img alt="" src="http://files.mothering.com/hopmad.gif" title="">  <img alt="" src="http://files.mothering.com/uhoh3.gif" title=""><img alt="" src="http://files.mothering.com/gloomy.gif" title=""> ?  . I do have asthma but it has gotten worse since last year.</p>

<p>I will go to my PCP and request a full physical, I have to research any specific test I need to request, if anyone does know of any please alert me.</p>

<p>I'm so outraged! that i cant even focus right now so forgive me if this post does not read as well as it should!!!</p>

<p>So in a nutshell could this be a reason it's taking me longer to conceive? <img alt="" src="http://files.mothering.com/uhoh3.gif" title="">                   I <img alt="" src="http://files.mothering.com/praying.gif" title="">  that this does not have negative efffects on me. I also assume the classroom i'm teaching in now has asbestos <img alt="greensad.gif" class="bbcode_smiley" src="http://files.mothering.com//images/smilies/greensad.gif"> </p>

<p>I don't know of those kinds of things being linked with asbestos exposure.  I think that the notorious asbestos effects (lung cancer) take 10-15 years to develop and the effects are directly in the lungs that breathe it.  (So not a babe in utero that doesn't breathe air independently)  There are always possible effects that we don't know about of course but I would be hesitant to assume.</p>

<p>Asbestos isn't considered a hazard when it is undisturbed, so throughout the past five years it should have been okay.  The abatement process itself disturbed it, but with great care I assume, since that is why they had to pay the big bucks to abatement professionals. </p>

<p>I do not believe that asbestos would affect conception, but I also think you have probably not been exposed anyway unless the school has had problems with it inside their air handling system.  In a nutshell, there a lot of things I would be much more concerned about.</p>

<p>You could do some research online--hopefully it will give you peace of mind.</p>
