my 21 month old will ask for things by holding out his hand and making a little grunt with an up tone at the end like a question. "eh?"

well recently when we read books and there is something in the book he wants like a ball or something.. he does this holds out his hand and says "eh?" like i can magically take it out of the book and give it to him..

any other kiddos do this? or is my kid from another planet where 2d and 3d can merge.

thanks

ds used to just try to pick the things up out of the book making little scratching motions on the page saying "have it?" I had to explain, it's just a picture, we can't take it out of the book!

My 21 month old was doing this last night. We were reading a book and she said "have it balloon." We only read books with real pictures because I was told by a Montessori teacher that fantasy isn't healthy until about age 5 or 6 but now I am wondering if I should introduce other books so she can understand the pictures in a book are different than her "worldly objects." In either case it was really funny.
