This is one of the finest cases against SB277 that I've heard to date . . . from a courageous Democrat in the California Assembly.

I know little about him, but he's well-schooled in the law.

Assemblyman Gatto is the representative of the area i grew up in.

To keep you all up to speed here is the case he cited -

Read it when you can - http://caselaw.findlaw.com/us-supreme-court/530/57.html

Troxel v Granville 2000, a decision of 6-3 -

In the case of Troxel v. Granville, the United States Supreme Court stated that "the interest of parents in the care, custody and control of their children--is perhaps the oldest of the fundamental liberty interests recognized by this Court."
He also cited Jacobson v Massachusetts, 1905. 7-2, which is a very interesting case. This book contains an entire chapter devoted to the story of this case. http://www.amazon.com/Pox-American-History-Penguin-Life/dp/0143120786/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1435640065&sr=8-1&keywords=pox

Remember this case was used to justify the sterilization of morons in Buck v Bell, 1927 8-1. This concept has never been overturned, so we are at a dangerous juxtaposition with regards to the law.
