...a few months back she posted a thread about how (among other things) her dp had grown a beard while she was out-of-town and refused to shave it off.

She was really icked out as she is a lady who prefers her man with a smooth face. Cool enough. At the time I chuckled because I am just the opposite... I like a guy to have more hair above his lip then I do
. Mike has had a moustache since I met him when we were 15, sometimes he'll even sport a beard. It's something I've gotten accustomed to. And he knows I hated it when he shaved it all once before. If I was into that look, I would just date a naked mole rat. Hey... they're kinda cute.

Well, so today he is getting ready to go out job-hunting. He comes out of the bathroom and he has SHAVED OFF HIS MOUSTACHE!!!! YIKES! I actually cringed when I saw him... I wanted to cry! I know he was just trying to look nice for the job search, but he didn't have to go THAT far! WE have not been getting along as well as usual lately, and my first impression was that he did it to spite me. I know, I know... I need to get more sleep :LOL It's just that he looks so COMPLETELY DIFFERENT and it weirds me out.

I guess I just wanted to whine a little about it... on one hand I realize it's a small and insignificant event in the grand sceme of things. OTOH, he looks like a stranger to me almost now! So if you think I am being a weenie for being bothered by this please don't post.

Ezra was looking at him SO funny! He's never seen Mike with a bare face!

xm, when i was not yet 10, (mid 80s) my father did something similarly horrifying. he got a PERM!!!!!! none of us wanted to go near him, the dog tried to kill him, it was so weird.

men need to figure out which hair and facial hair set up works for them and just leave it alone damn it! :LOL

True confessions...

I don't really care how most people look, but for some reason I can't ignore the looks of the people I kiss.

My husband was scruffy looking all summer, working on our remodel. He thought he looked like a studly construction guy. I thought he looked like an off-kilter, somewhat crazed homeless man.

And in college I dated the cutest guy. He had this gorgeous sun-kissed hair from working on a fishing boat all summer. One day he arrived at school with no hair. Well, it was 1/4 inch long. All the beautiful golden hair and highlights were gone and his hair looked all dull and dark and sickly. Every time I looked at him I thought his head looked like a moldy grape.

Count your blessings. One of best friends DH shaved his head one day. Just cuz he was bored. Got up, went in the bathroom, came out twenty minutes later looking like Mr Clean. That he is still alive is a testament to her love and restraint, methinks.

OMG!!!

I feel the same way when my hubby shaves. He is 38 and when he shaves his face clean, he looks 18.
: I don't like it. I like him with his facial hair.

I go thru this twice a year!

My hubby grows beard for winter, takes me forever to get used to it, then he shaves, and I have to get used to that look again!!!!Talk about frustrating....
(he's reading this and says he will not grow a beard this winter)

I know how you feel, except I hate facial hair. Hubby doesn't like to shave, so he winds up with this scraggly looking mess that feels like a brillo pad. I won't let him kiss me when it's like that. I hate body hair too. I cringe when I see men with the hair bulging out the backs of their shirts. Yuck.... I know, I can be so superficial. Luckily, dh only has 11 chest hairs.

my husband had the most beautiful shoulder length hair that he would sometimes wear in a braid or ponytail. He looked like something out of "Braveheart."

One day I came home and found the braid on the kitchen counter.
I screamed.. then when he came in shorn, I actually cried.!

He is still my gorgeous man.. but I will always always miss that hair...

oh I can soooo sympathize. My dh had a beard when I met him and I love facial hair (especially because no razor stubble burn from kissing). Every once in awhile he says he'd like to shave and I tease him that he will be cut off until the facial hair returns, lolol.

He shaved once and aggggggg I didn't know who the heck he was. He grew it back immediately.

If he realllly wanted to I'd live, but it's almost a game at this point.

I have to add my vote for the smooth face.I can't stand hairy men.I didn't even realize this until I married my dh.I like it when he doesn't shave for a few days and then I do think that he has this rugged look going for him(very sexy)But I can't stand more than three or four days growth.
Besides dh's hair doesn't act right. It kinda sticks out and won't get kinda curly like it is suppose to.So he looks like he has quills all over his face. And it hurts! Can't stand to kiss him like that.

hi xm. havent 'seen' you in a while, i know thats just cause we've been hanging out in different forums. ill bet your yacking away over there in diapering and breastfeeding and life w/ a babe

anyway,i know. dh shaves his beard every summer and he looks so wierd to me at first- kind of deformed. his chin just looks so little and naked. but i get used to it.

in high school my bf called me one night and asked how i would feel if he had his mom give him a mohawk. i was like, no way, i will die. this guys hair was his best feature, all long and curly brunette w/ fabulous golden tones. well, the next day i came to school and found out he'd done it before he even talked to me that night anyway. i think i couldnt look at him for a week. but then, i did feel very cool when he gooped it up for shows, so i guess i got used to it- even came to see it as a status symbol.

My dh has had a moustache ever since I have know him, thats 7 +plus years. He just started talking about shaving it off
> I have only seen picture of him smooth faced. Even though I like guys that are as hair free as possible (no apes for me) I really cant imagine him without his moustache.

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only superficial one
When I met dh, and through most of our dating he looked a bit like Fox Mulder from Xflies (except dh isn't tall, I mean the face/hair), and I found him very sexy. Then he cut his hair differently, really short, and I hated it. He grew it back. Occasionaly he'll grow a goatee, which I find nice for a week or two. Well, about a year ago, maybe more, he decided to cut his hair super short again, and did. I figured he'd leave it that way for a month or so and let it grow. He didn't
I really hate it now, and he's also had a goatee for at least 6 months, and the combo of short hair/goatee just doesn't do anything for me. Well, that's not true, it totally turns me off. At first I tried not to be superficial, but I can't help it. I've told him gently and not so gently that I really want his "normal" hair back.

Sigh. I think he's growing it back finally. Either that or he's been too lazy to get it cut!

i prefer dh without facial hair. i haven't actually seen him with facial hair except in pictures, but i think he looks much better without it. luckily, he won't grow facial hair now although it's for unusual reasons (i know there's a better word for what i'm trying to say, but can't think of it now...)

Oh, I hear ya!

At one point my dh (who had gorgeous, elbow-length hair, btw) cut his hair all off for a job interview. I wasn't delighted, but I was dealing with it.... until later that day, when I saw him walking toward me from a slight distance. For a couple of seconds, I mistook him for his identical twin brother, who always has a very conservative, ultra-dorky haircut! I cried and cried!

Nothing like mistaking your dh for someone else. Oy.
