DS is 5mo and used to sleep 3-5 hour stretches at night. For the last two months, his sleep has been getting worse and worse, to the point that he's now up usually every hour, occasionally more often. He has a terrible time staying asleep when we put him back in our bed after he is out of bed nursing or being rocked to sleep.

He is definitely teething and has dealt with gas issues his whole life. We feel like we've tried anything.

We're feeling frantic and don't know what to do next!!!

Ideas?

Megincl first of all s to you and sorry you and ds are having a rough time. I don't have any concrete ideas for you to try out but it seems from what i've been reading on this forum that alot of babes change sleep patterns around this age. They go from sleeping mostly thru the night to what you're describing. My ds has never slept thru the night and he's 8.5 mos and waking very frequently. They nurse for so many reasons other than hunger. What has helped me was to first of all throw out the idea that a babe should be sleeping thru the night by a certain age. Second look at your diet and see if it's changed at all and then cut out the new foods if it has. Third remember that this too shall pass and before you know it your little nursling will be a non-nursing boy and you'll remember these days with nostalgia. Sorry I can't be of more help but you're in excellent company in this forum. You may want to check out the support for 6-9 mo frequent wakers just to make you feel less alone in all this.

My DD did this for a few weeks a few weeks ago. She was going thru a growth spurt, and nursed quite a bit every 2 hours or so for about 3 weeks. She gained over 1.5 lbs in 2 weeks!

My dd did the same thing..........lots of nightwaking then back to the regular pattern....then dropped a nap shortly thereafter. Get ready! It may be your next "loss"! I miss that nap she had........it was the laundry nap for me!!
