DD is almost 15 months old. The longest she goes during the day between nursings is 2 hours. She nurses a lot at night too, often every couple of hours. We are doing CLW. I have no desire to try to reduce her nursing---as far as I'm concerned she can nurse as often as she likes.

I'm trying to get an idea of what the next few years will be like for our family. At what age is she likely to start nursing less and what's that going to look like?

J is 14mo and we are in the same boat. Not sure if I will clw or not but now plan to nurse at least until 2... I am interested to hear answers

But I will say that he will nurse much less during the day if we are out and about or at work (I was working in a daycare so he was with me) than if we are just hanging out at home.

My DD cut back after all her teeth came in, which was around 2.5. Nursing picked back up after we moved for about six weeks (just turned 3). Now at almost 3.5 she nurses to sleep and when she wakes up in the morning. Except when she's ill there's not a lot of during the day nursing.

for my dd i noticed it happened in waves. whenever seh was going thru a growth spurt, or some milestone time she would nurse more. and then fall back to regular slow pace adn then pick up again.

spent quite a bit of time outdoors so she didnt nurse that often while at the park.

i think its a gradual thing. how gradual depends on your child.

Each child's timeline is different. DD was over 2 before she went down to "only" 12 x daily and DS was probably 3.
The important part to keep in mind is that they both *did* eventually decrease.

Wow, my experience is way different. My babe rarely will nurse more than 4 x in a 24 hour period. She has settled into a pattern of nursing first thing in the morning, at naptime, at bedtime, and once during the night. Unless she is sick or teething she just isn't interested in any additional sessions.

um - i think the more mobile they are with lots of distraction, and the less my boobs are hanging out, the more time DS will go between nursings. on the weekends my ds - 20 mo still nurses about 6x/day. but his is down from 10-12 at 1 y.o
