I rarely ever take a temp. I'm a former nurse and my dh is an EMT. We treat the symptoms, not the number. If the baby seems uncomfortable, we cool them down. If they are shivery, we warm them up. I trust their bodies to know what to do.

I'm not sure how high is too high. I don't take a temp either...but I'd also try a bath to cool her off. How is she acting? A fever doesn't alarm me...I look at how they're acting along w/ the fever. If DD was very lethargic and not drinking...I would be very concerned.

This article is good if you want more info about fevers and children:

Thanks for the article. DD has been somewhat lethargic today, on and off. She babbles when we go by the window, but I can tell she's not her regular happy self. She is drinking water from her sippy, but she really isnt in the mood to nurse
.

how lethargic is "concerning lethargic"?

thanks moms!

Well, I haven't dealt with any illnesses other than colds so far w/ DD's so no personal experience. I usually go to Dr Sears website with any medical concerns as he's got pretty good info but not overly mainstream.

Here's info he has on fevers:

Also, it's great that you're keeping fluids in her but I'd try to give her breastmilk as much as possible. BM is so wonderful all the time but esp when they're not feeling well. Can you put some expressed bm in her sippy for her? Slip in next to her while she's sleeping to see if she'll nurse?
