I'm experimenting with what kind of bottle my breastfed baby is most likely to accept. So far she's drinking tiny amounts of breastmilk from a bottle (1/4 ounce was the new record set today), so I wonder if she'd like other bottles better.

I have an Avent bottle that we got when we were going through the same process with DD1, although we never used it much. When it's filled with liquid (I've been testing with water) and turned upside down, it drips quite quickly. Given that a lot of people have said that their breastfed baby liked Avent bottles, the fast drip surprises me.

I'm tempted to buy another Avent to see if it does the same thing. But before I do, I thought I'd check here. Does anyone here have or use Avent bottles, and if so, do yours run a fast drip if held upside down?

Thanks!

Have you checked the nipple size? You may have a fast flow nipple, or stage 2. They sell stage 1, slow flow nipples at the store. Maybe try that?

I know that when we bought it I chose whatever was the slowest flow -- that's say that's all you should ever use for breastfed babies, so that's what I chose whenever I was trying new bottles. So this nipple is stage 1 if that's the slowest Avent sells. So my question is, for others who have stage 1, does it not drip at all, or only drip slowly? Or do stage 1 Avent nipples just drip surprisingly fast?

I've had problems with my Avent nipples dripping to fast also...in fact I bought widemouth Nuk nipples to use in my Avent bottles this time to avoid the issue alltogether....my first 2 would choke with the Avents.
