I'm planning to do anything I can to strengthen my BOW and avoid being GBS+ this time, since I credit the majority of my c/s to those two problems (SROM before ctx hit & GBS+ mom). Anybody else? Ideas?

I am interested in the answers that you get.

With DD2 I had spontaneous rupture of membranes and then a wait before labor started. Last fall I grew GBS out in a urinalysis so most likely will be colonized when I take the swab in a few months.

I am focusing on good nutrition, with good amounts of balanced nutrients coming from healthy sources. I am also focused on eating live foods to help bolster my body flora to help push out the GBS.

I suspect my spontaneous rupture of membranes was connected to an amniocentesis I had had earlier in my second pregnancy. the placenta and amniotic membranes were strong and healthy when we looked at them after she was born. I really think the bag of waters was weakened where the needle went through, and that caused my rupture.

There are vitamins you can take that strengthen the membranes, and also vitamin c for prevention of infection if membranes do rupture. I would try looking in the gentlebirth.org archives to see if you could find what vitamins do stengthen the membranes. I think that is where I saw it. With GBS its hard to say but you can definately do alot of things like garlic internally, yogurt with active cultures, anything to establish good gut flora will help you.

I have read in a few different places that 500mg of vitamin c can help strengthen your bag. I recommended it to a doula client of mine whose water broke at 3cm the first labor and he water didn't break until just before pushing the second time(she was a VBAC, woo hoo!)
