Just FYI, did you know that some patients think that when they are getting the Gardasil vaccine that it is a vaccine against cervical cancer? It is NOT! It is a vaccine against the HPV virus. Did you know that the HPV virus is preventable and curable with the herb Pau d' Arco?

Now Merck is using Avon to peddle their lies!

Merck is offering Avon Representatives FREE cervical cancer and informational kits about GARDASIL that can be shared with Customers.

Please click here to view the details.

http://link.ixs1.net/site/2132/gardasil-letter.pdf

That is how they advertise it. You'd be suprised how many people take commercials seriously.

I'd like more information about the Pau'd'arco treatment/cure. Is it a douche with tea?
http://www.paudarco.com/

i find it scary that they just buy whole states and companies' support. not shocking, just scary and people are buying the lies without even so much asking, who is paying for the push to make this mandatory. couldn't possibly be the company that rakes in the profits...

I JUST (literally) placed an order too. And from across the country too, to support my friend selling it. *sigh* Alas, will keep this in mind for the net time I am approached.

I believe that only one rare strain of HPV causes cervical cancer. Will the vaccine protect against all strains of HPV (there are many) or only the strain that is believed to cause cervical cancer?

I believe the vaccine protects against a few strain including the one that is linked to cervical cancer. The vaccine doesn't directly prevent CC, and won't protect against all CC. It is shown to help guard against some strains of HPV though.

I wil admit, I don't like new vaccines with not much research. Guardicil still needs more time IMO, same with the chicken pox vaccine, I won't let my kids get that one. Until they are old enough to decide for themselves. Needs more time to see the outcomes and long term effects/benefits/risks and all that. All IMO here, I think they both need more time and study.

I can't believe that people don't research more before putting crazy things in their bodies, but some people just have blind faith in the medical community. The fact that they are advertising this as a "cure" for cervical cancer, instead of giving all the facts, just to make some money, well :

And putting blind faith in a tea douche is better?

I was in the clinical trials for Guardasil. I believe in it 100%. I am also a woman living with a cancer-causing strain of HPV. Because of this, I've had to have pieces of my cervix removed. This isn't fun. This isn't something you want for your kid. Really. I so wish this vaccine had been available when I was 12, because then I wouldn't have to freak out every year when it is Pap smear time that this time it will be back and maybe this time they'll have to take enough cervix that I won't be able to bear a child.

There are many, many strains of HPV. Some cause warts, some cause pre-cancerous and eventually cancerous cellular changes, some, as far as is known, do nothing. Guardasil protects against three of the potentially cancer-causing strains. And yes, nearly 100% of cases of cervical cancer are linked to HPV.

thank you.

I'm not sure why so many people don't trust science.

I am also wondering, and hoping, that they start to include males in their studies. I don't know why this vaccine wouldn't be beneficial for boys/men to get as well as females.

And for the record, I didn't respond to the original post, I am not up in arms about Avon handing out literature about the vaccine. The information should be out there and they aren't evil for helping share it. The vaccine isn't a cure, but I haven't seen it actually promoted in that way. But I am sure I read different stuff then. I don't get Avon, but I do read the medical journals and/or papers, summaries. But it is in my area, I'm a nurse and in the women's and children's services department.

I have never seen it marketed as a cure for cervical cancer. The commercials are very clear that it may prevent infection with strains of HPV that can cause cervical cancer.

The commercials, yes, they are quite clear. The media? Not so much. A quick news Google yielded over 600 results with the words "Cervical Cancer Vaccine" in the headlines...mostly followed by "To be given to teen girls" :

I don't trust "scientific" research funded by profit hungry pharmeceutical companies. Why would I?

I would personally be more likely to trust herbal wisdom that has been passed on for mellinia. That is science to me. I don't trust the medical corporations one bit.

And bah to Avon for perpetuating this sort of propaganda.

No "cancer vaccine" for me or my dds!

I have heard some pretty bad side effects from this already.

If you're thinking about Gardasil, you may want to google the term serotype replacement.
For now, Gardasil supposedly protects against 4 strains of HPV, only two of which are linked with developing cervical cancer. There is nothing that saysother more virulent strains won't move in in their place.
